Part of the Furniture Now
Late afternoon, I had the urge to smoke an English, so I took out the straight Falcon, installed the Bantam bowl, and had a great half hour with Traditional English, a really nice high lat TobaccoBarn product. English fans might want to try this blend, available at CigarSpots in LA. My go-to English.

Buddy Mike arrived and rather than another pipe, I ended the evening with some good conversation and a Phillies Blunt Strawberry, which he brought over for me. Crash time for this guy now :)

Did some low calorie snacking, and am near the half way mark of this bowl of Seattle Pipe Club Give Me Liberty in a straight smooth medium brown pre-1920 straight Marechal Ruchon & Cie. Royale apple with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Spent some time traffic copping feral eating. Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave are in the house, and have settled down to snooze. Harry the Hairy is outside on the deck. Abner the Eager was inside all day up until a few minutes ago, mostly snoozin' behind m'lady's chair.

Passing the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2012 Anniversary Kake in a smooth burgundy medium bend 1979 Chippendale (Charatan second) Rhodesian 49 with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Smokes as well as a first and worth the $19.95 I paid for it all those years ago. Sleepy Suzy ate, and is back by my side. Tomato the Brave ate again, and is snorin' on my feet.

Afternoon festivities at the indoor range. No smoking allowed, but I always chew when I shoot. Keeps me relaxed.

Took my Weiraugh Model 97, my backup competition air rifle, one of the most used springers in Field Target Events, out of mothballs. Haven't shot it in quite a while. It's a great shooter, but I handle my Weiraugh Mod 98 better in the field. These groups were shot indoors today, at 20 yards, goal to readjust the point of impact so it is centered. Not quite there yet. Look at the groups from bottom to top to see progress. Shot from a bench with a front sandbag, and stock butt end resting on my right forearm (I shoot left-handed). I'll finish the job and tighten up the groups next Wednesday.

The pellet flight has been analysed, and will not spread from this 1/4" average, out to 55 yards, the maximum range targets are placed in this style of competition. Shooting is from various positions, no supports allowed except forearm rests. This is decent shooting, but won't get me into the finals in competition. Have to tighten up and solve the stringing problem - probably a loose screw. The rifle is shown in the bottom photo. These airguns are capable of astounding accuracy, and they are heavy. About 18 pounds without scope. My gun (as are most) have custom parts installed as well. You must be able to gauge distances in competition too, as the target distance is not marked or displayed. Great fun!

Splendid guns, those Weihrauchs - I have a .22 break-barrel W but don't compete with it. Just use it for shooting rats and squirrels.

Sutliff 507C with a little lane 1-Q in the bottom of the bowl in the Vauen Olaf 4873 bent egg with 9mm filter. This is what I smoke almost all the time now. Some member had once mentioned char lighting pipes at night for the next day ... I had an occasion where I started a pipe and wasn't able to smoke it fully. The next day I had one of the best most flavorful smokes; lit right away evenly, mellow, tasty, smooth. I may have to let my smokes marinate from now on when I have time. Happy Thanksgiving to all !

Loud storm noises woke me up, so I'm watching The Gay Divorcee Starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and smoking year 2016 D&R Two Timer Gold in a 1982 smooth straight Sasieni Ivory 105 Apple with a black vulcanite saddle stem. This was my first Sasieni. Bought it at my local Tinderbox for $9.95. Sleepy Suzy is by my side.
