Do you fold and stuff or rub it out, out of curiosity? I've smoked it folded but not rubbed, liked the intensity level.Charatan Black Flake (why is it called that?) in a Kiplay, whilst checking on the bare-root strawberries that came in the post and I potted up in the greenhouse last week. The Charatan is taking some time to get to know - like some old friend, very conversational, who will happily discuss the weather, football and car mechanics but who you can't get started on the dimensionality of Time, the Apostolic Succession or the meaning of out-of-body experiences. The word I'm looking for is, I think, "uncomplicated". YMMV, of course.

Yes, it was a difficult decision - to light up or not. But in this case - I had never smoked an unsmoked Lee and after years of Briar Lee go on and on about how sweet the oil cured unsmoked Lees are when first lit, I decided to see for myself. In this case, I guess it’s only rarer until the flame meets the pipe—then it’s just very rare.
Can I have the recipe? It’s not for me though, it’s for me ma! She’s got a Periwinkle blue Kaywoodie she smokes out of….An XL81S filled with my first attempt to make an Irish Flake match at home, a little mix I call Gypo #1, now 6mo old. Not bad.
Putzing around in the shop, I really like this pipe, but have found bulldogs not too easy to find spots to set them down…I need more sitters.
