I can't stop chortling. I was browsing pipes - again - thinking calabash or 9mm filter, to get the best from Cabbies and then I had an idea. Uh-oh. Couple of years ago, I picked up a James Fox billiard they had in a basket, probably paid too much in their Selfridges branch. Alas, when I got it home, I discovered why it had been discarded; the draught hole hadn't been drilled. I nearly flung it in the bin, but thought, maybe sometime I'll have a go.

Today was the day. I dug it out and found that it's a 9mm pipe and the filter chamber is longer than any filter I've ever seen. My eyes lit up. The dremel came to the fore. There were false starts and difficulties with the bit length and hand holding. It's a bit ropey, to say the least. I had to go in via the bowl to finish, scratched the rim. But... job done, however badly, and I did center the hole. It takes a pipe cleaner right through! Stuck a mesh basket in to hide the internal wreckage.

I had some very dry Dunhill 3-year matured virginia, loaded up, huffed in the bowl, lit it. Oh, this is ok. After that, loaded up with Cabbies, the acid test. And it tastes great! Result! puffy

Good day all! Last three days saw me constantly rotating KBV Red Line and GH Ennerdale Flake. WIth the Holiday Spirit in the offing (several houses have Christmas decorations up and lights on - and I'm in Florida), starting with Reiner Professional in an Upshall P Bulldog with half-bent hex shank with matching saddle stem.
