image.jpgKaywoodie Shilouette with a metal band. 1940s vintage. Smoking an oriental-Virginia forward blend of 507C, 515RC, Maryland, Turkish, Smyrna, White Burley, and some Cherry Cavendish. I call this 88s. It is smooth, buttery, and the sweetness of the Virginias is ever present.

Thinking about what changes I might make to it in the future or do I stop right here?

Was out diddling around with the horses, haven’t worked with Bob much in the past few months…
Did some groundwork then hopped on his back with just a halter and lead rope-he didn’t want much of that, so I got off before he blew up.
Gonna make the Mrs wait awhile before she gets the AD&D and supplemental insurances I just redid this morning😉

- Belgian-grown tobacco?! What's it like?
Its pretty good tobacco, different. I would recommend you trying some. there's a learning curve though. Comes completely bone dry, at least you're not paying for water! Then you have to pack it tighter than you would ever think, I mean cram it down in the bowl after it's filled with all your might. Light, sip slow and it's a wonderful nutty experience if sipped. A nice vitamin N boost as well.😉 Most don't rehydrate it, keep it dry as it comes.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am half way through this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. The last of this bag of Gold Star Papua New Guinea, neat, is my drink.

Finished the 3P, loved it.

Just refilled it with Boswell Christmas Cookie, always nice in the winter.

Finished the Cult Militia, I really enjoyed that.....bought a few tins 10 years ago and stashed them away...glad I did.

Opened the Mississippi River, smoking out my my broken Sav....underwhelmed so far, but plenty more to smoke.

As always, have Northwoods, Navy Flake and Vanilla Roll Cake as my everyday smokes...

It’s called semois burley, it’s similar to normal burley we are used to but has some uniqueness, a bit of licorice maybe?, very dry on purpose, you can pack tight, in fact you should. I love the stuff. Worth trying. Not as nic heavy as you might expect.

“Long the secret of the Ardennes' misty valleys, Semois remained unheard of to most outside Belgium until a writer for the New York Times received some as a gift, leading in turn to an article on this distinctive regional leaf. Earthy, floral and cool, many who've now had the chance to try it often find themselves grasping in vain for a well-known tobacco to compare it to. The simple truth is, Semois is Semois; a straight, all-natural Burley grown under unique conditions, resulting in a unique leaf, produced only by Vincent and Gaetane Manil, only in the traditional manner, and from a tobacco grown only in the Semois valley.”

Smoke Of The Day: Peterson's Irish Flake and Irish Cask, mixed 50/50 in a Peterson military mount Rhodesian 999.November 2nd, All Souls' Day... an appropriate time to spend the day working in a graveyard - in this case, St Leonard's, Ludlow. Primary objective, to clear/weed the five War Graves and the access paths to them, in readiness for the annual Service of Remembrance on Monday 11th at 11 AM. All done. Some secondary objectives achieved, too. Good bunch of volunteers there today. All I had to do was smoke my pipe and direct operations (though I actually did a bit more than that). Many souls around - in the air, in the trees, among the leaves, and underground. Spent the last hour there as others might say, 'on my own' - but it's a very companionable place. :)

@MisterBadger It is really great what you and the others have done and continue to do to help preserve the gravesites. I looked it up and its an interesting place and would be perfect for a contemplative smoke.
