You did a stellar job on this repair, and set a good example for all of us. Bravo. 👍 👍
Thank you. I wouldn’t call it “stellar”, that side is the best, but the crack repair is visible, and I got out of control with the sanding.
I think it was an awesome learning lesson and turned out better than I thought it would as a first try (especially since start to finish was done while my wife made dinner).

Many great craftsmen share their tricks, and with a little research and forethought it’s doable.

The other side, now burning some Victorian Match:

Gonna skip "Skippable Drivel" today because that's probably what this post is . . . . or a collection of useless information. You've heard of a "twofer." Well, this is an "eightfer", a quick snapshot of three smokes and other skippable drive you may, or may not, wish to read after the picture.

1. Yesterday's final smoke, the Kwiki Grape cigar stub in the flowerpot holder.

2. Letting y'all know that a flowerpot holder makes a great ashtray, especially at the computer. Cheap, too!

3. The at present usual morning smoke of "Captain Black Cherry Cavendish" in my MiniCob.

4, Letting y'all know that a cigar stub makes a great pipe cork, as good as anything I've used.

5. Letting y'all know what my afternoon smoke will be, a Kwiki Grape cigar. so I can renew the stub in the holder, for the next tamping job I do at the computer.

6. A clever (arrogantly says he) and arty-crafty photograph of my GIMP processing of the present post you are now viewing, after just tamping out. (see point 8)

7. Informing you that I haven't decided on my evening smoke yet, but probably something wimpy. Tastebuds are returning, now a little better than yesterday but still only in 3rd gear, courtesy of whatever it is that's been harassing me for the past week.

8. FYI, my use of the term "arty-crafty" is NOT a positive thing . . . . it is used up here, and probably elswere, as a derogatory slur or comment by a client or pro, directed at a usually very rookie or braindead artist or photographer, on a piece of egotistical and wretched excess, presented to this potential client, employer, or teacher as an audition or product.

Been there and done that, from both sides of the fence. :ROFLMAO: Cheers.

Did a set of walking reps on this beautiful sunny day, and smoked a bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a slight bent black pattern etched 1977 Lorenzo Lorsan Sigma level top billiard with a gray swirl acrylic saddle stem. Harry the Hairy stood drive way guard as he often does. When I finished walking, he demanded some attention, which he got, and followed me inside for extra eats. Daisy the Feral Princess was laying on the deck steps for attention, and she got some. It's time for an off diet lunch.

MacBaren Vintage Syrian from 2013 in this Butz Choquin Calabash.
I never heard anything good about these BC Calabash pipes, so I wasn't expecting much when I got it about 15 years ago. But I was surprised, it smokes great. Yes, it gets hot due to the very thin walls towards the bottom, but I'm a slow smoker.
I believe the hot bowl was most people's complaints.

Got back from a walk with the pooch, just in time. Big ol crack-boom of thunder, about blew me under the porch! Now I'm sitting ON said porch, watching it hail. Looks like it snowed, way it's piling up. My dog raced inside and refuses to come back out. Poor boy does NOT like thunder, or fireworks.
Am smoking a bowl of Warped Saint Espresso, in a cob.
Good smoke!
