Perfect afternoon for smoking. Really warming up to this pipe shape.

Good afternoon. Had a couple of decent smokes, tastebuds returning after a week of whatever it was. About 80% now and hope this continues.
Last night, tried another strong smoke, my favourite Navy, Black Frigate, in the dedicated McQueen Miniature Dwarf, (top picture) and just now, just past noon upon return from Mass, Smoker's Pride Cherry Cavendish, a delightful medium infused cherry, in my MiniCob, which was there but tasted milder than it does normally. As I postulated above, about 80%.

Skippable Drivel: I've swapped around my smoking order lately, and probably permanently, and now smoke a fruit based aromatic, usually cherry, in the morning, rather than evening, and a strong and bolder tobacco, such as Magnum Opus, Nightcap, or other bolder fodder containing Orientals, in the evening rather than morning. This is working well, as is simply not eating at least an hour before I light up anything.
The above noted smoke with Black Frigate, still to my mind belongs in the afternoons. Just wanted to try this favoured tobacco, in an evening as a trial. Nope, prefer it in the afternoons. Reason? Navies and Englishes, to me, smoke the same from beginning to end, without hints of this and drabbles of that. I like this in the afternoon and this group of tobaccos, bolstered by the codgers which also smoke straight, are my preference still during mid-day hours.
Kind of like going from ABC to CBA, the central portion staying the same. I'm a bonehead in the mornings, but very focussed in the afternoons, and don't like surprises then. I'm most relaxed and meditative in the evenings. Makes sense to me, but maybe not to others. Nonetheless, I did enjoy BF last night, because I could taste it and not just an echo.
I'm also choosing my pipe size now depending on what length of smoke I feel like at the time, still preferring small and medium size pipes. I imagine all of this as growing pains, and that many others have established similar patters.

Had a nice long drive home so I tried C&D Bayou Night in a Nording. This is some delicious stuff, lots of plums and fermented fruit. I can see this becoming a regular smoke, it had the right amount of kick too.

I checked up on Telescopes tobacco, and apparently there is some copyright hassles going on with it right now, and if it was available to me, I'd try it for the reasons you state. I've been using Smokers' Pride Whiskey for the same, it being as close to neutral anything I have. Any flavour it has is to me, very undertoned, and it burns fairly hot, and is better for breaking in pipes than anything else I have. Once broken in, I then dedicate or bias the pipe to a particular blend or type. I find Lats the most ghosting of all, but as I don't mind them at all, they get smoked in their own pipes.
Any strong opinions I have are long gone except for my personal favourites, which at this time remain the same. Hope I'm on the right track. Any suggestions you or others have would be most welcome.

Thanks! It really is. And more importantly, it's a fantastic smoker. Both of my first two smokes cruised pleasantly along and ended with me wondering why I couldn't get the tobacco to light anymore, and I was somewhat surprised to find out the answer was that ash was the only thing left.
This is my first pipe of his, but based on this one, I would absolutely and enthusiastically recommend his work.

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of year 2016 Hearth & Home AJ’s Vaper in a pre-1952 Sutliff Falcon 372 (made by Comoy’s) smooth light brown straight bulldog with a tapered black vulcanite stem.
Currently, I am at the half way mark of this bowl of year 2024 KBV Mr. Christian's Haunted Virginia in a straight, black sandblasted 1980s Comoy’s Mark-2 G * 6 (4) bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Enjoyed a productive and fun Zoom meeting with friends as our committee nominated two undeservedly unsung writers for The Bill Finger Award. Bill Finger was the co-creator of Batman, and thanks to Bob Kane, he never got the attention he deserved nor anything beyond writer's pay. A few us finally managed to get DC and the Bob Kane estate to recognize Finger's many contributions to the creation of Batman and Robin, Commissioner Gordon, many of their villains, the Bat Cave, Batmobile, etc. The award is our way to keep Bill Finger's name out there, and to celebrate those who didn't get the recognition that they were entitled to.
