IMG_7114.jpegC&D Burley flake #1 in a brand new Algerian briar that only cost me $24.95 shipped.

The first thing I did when I got this in the mail was remove the varnish with steel wool and alcohol and then I added olive oil to give it a nice shine. The sap gives it a peppery spice and there is no better pipe in the world. This would be what God himself would smoke if he ever decided to come down to Bug Tussle and light up a pipe. :) Within 3-4 smokes this pipe will color a rich, deep brown just like a Turkish meerschaum.

Cigar Time: Padron 1926 Serie Natural

While returning to USA I was transiting through Abu Dhabi. I went to the duty free to buy some Cuban Cigars. They only had Romeo Y Julieta at $1500 per box. I still decided to buy one although I had the daunting task of explaining it to my wife later. But then they refused to sell it to me; seems like people traveling to USA can only buy from designated duty free shops which are beyond US security and border control. They also advised me that I am out of luck as that duty free shop does not have Cuban cigars. In hindsight I saved $1500 and whenever I want to splurge I will smoke the Padrons 😀

Thank you, BTW I love that Sav 626 you’ve been sporting around 👍
Thanks, Paul. The jury is still out on that pipe. It smokes dry but I still haven’t found THAT blend for THAT pipe if you know what I mean. The draw is a touch more open than on my Savinelli Tre pipes in my estimation. I’m very particular about how my pipes draw.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am almost a third of the way through this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. The last of this bag of Gold Star Peruvian Macchu Picchu, neat, is my drink. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Molly Danger is snoozin' in the bed room. Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave are outside enjoying the good weather. Harry the Hairy is snoozin' on the couch.

Before I went to bed some hours back after my last post of the day, Abner the Eager was sitting on the doormat waiting for me to let him in. He didn't want to eat. He wanted attention, and curled up on my lap for a few minutes. Then, he moved to the couch for a snooze. He's still inside, and is currently snoozin' on m'lady's chair. He hasn't seemed very energetic the last three days, so we're keeping a watchful eye on him.

For Lumbridge:
"First smoke of D&R Penhooker Silver in a Missouri Pride cob that I modded by adding a dowel plug. I think this is going to become one of my favorite pipes."

I'm curious what you might charge to do this mod on my 2 Missouri Prides ... a straight & a bent. Of course, I'd cover shipping costs both ways. Their cobs with a hardwood plug are a great option, but then I have a Legend since '06 that's still working well. I haven't actually read much commentary about the simpler cobs burning out in the bottom. Cobs seem much more durable than one might initially think.

Will that one take a 6mm Charcoal or Balsa ?

That is my favorite Padron. I prefer the naturals as well. I have found that trying to buy Cuban cigars overseas is not worth it sometimes. They are great for sure, but when you can buy an EP Carillo Pledge or a Plasencia Alma Del Fuego for 1/6 of the price and not have to deal with customs, it makes you want to hold onto your money. I brought a few Cohibas back from Switzerland and they had been dried out at the shop and who knows how long they sat not humidified in transport. There are plenty of great new worlds out there that aren't being sold for 80 Euros.
