It’s good so far, I get Burley first with the Virginias and Perique chiming in. I think it has Oriental in it as well. Not picking up on any casings. Burns real easy and a little slow as it’s a C&D crumble cake. I’ve only tried this one tin which is from 2014. Enjoy yours!
Thank you, sounds great

@hoosierpipeguy thanks for your experience on the CVP. I'll have to go dig out a tin, it is lovely stuff

First half was smoked gathering stuff to do my first major pipe surgery, repairing my beloved smooth Ropp J07 that suffered a catastrophic event Tuesday:

Not perfect, but strong like bull and will be back gracing the WAYS threads soon!

Looks like it turned out pretty good to me. Congrats on getting 'er back up and runnin'. 👍

Had a waking bowl of Mycroft before a nice walk with the pooch. Now finishing off the morning's coffee with a bowl of Dockworker in a Karl Erik dublin.

First bowl ever of Sutliff 310 Modern English (EGR) this morning, and it was lovely. I liked the softness of the smoke, the slight sweet topping that still let me know I was smoking tobacco. I followed it up with my first-ever bowl of Granger, and it was equally lovely, with a fantastic light cocoa aroma and taste. Props to WVSmokeShop for having both blends in stock!

First "victim" of pipe tweak. Smoked my Homemix Grape (1 part ground Phillies Blunt Grape with 5 parts Borkum Riff Dark) in my Ropp J07, the first cabinet minister in my collection to be shuffled.

Reason? I'd biased it for Orientals, but I have the big meer (really, a medium bowl about the same size as the Ropp) and the McQueen Miniature Fable that got almost all of the traffic. So, the R07 was underutilized.

Not good. The Ropper is, as those of you who have this stellar pipe, know that it not only smokes like a dream, but is incredibly versatile, and just about any fodder fed to it comes off with aplomb. So, It's now going to be my workhorse for anything but tobaccos containing lat, and it will get far more use than it had in the past.

The morning smoke itself? Continued my "fruit juice" aromatic penchant as of late, but this time a grape rather than a cherry. Went well with my morning cold coffee, but the tastebuds are still not in full function, and the flavouring was an undertone rather than a presence. Will be glad to get rid of whatever it is, but at least a hint of grape was there. My piping buddies like this one, by the way. But frankly, I prefer the taste of cherry with the morning java.

No drivel today. Too much cleanup and organization to do.

There it is.

Morning smoke with coffee. Hardcastle Canadian with a mix I call Cajun Coffee (Cowboy Coffee with a pinch of Perique, mixed in a jar and left to sit a few weeks).

Now that sounds like a good mix! Plain perique for mixing is on my wish list! Very nice, elegant pipe, too. Don't see a lot of gold bands around. (now watch them proliferate :ROFLMAO: )

I've passed the half way mark of this bowl of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Been feeding the ferals and my cats. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

This experiment has shown me some of the intricacies of blending, and the knowledge required to master it. I was going for about 15% Perique.

I was surprised that I ended up not really tasting Perique, but that it noticeably mellowed the other leaf (DFK/Bur/VA). I assume the Per raises the overall pH. I can see how adding an ingredient doesn’t always just add a flavor, more so it affects the other flavors. I think that’s where master blenders shine.
