This is my first day of my 77th yr on earth. That means I turned 76 today. I've got an appt. to have some skin cancer removed from my right arm this a.m. It's about the size of a quarter on the outside of my bicep.
Getting ready to drive over to the dermatologist's offices at 11:00 a.m.
Smoking some Match 965 in my no name octo panel sitter.
Happy Birthday. I wish all goes well on the visit to the dermatologist. May God bless and protect you.

Good afternoon. Smoking the first third of glp, Spark Plug, in a MM General. Last night, a few kilometers from home, burned a fruit and vegetable cooperative, only 4 years old, I think. It was totally razed to the ground. A cloud for kilometers, releasing ashes over the town. Many jobs went to hell. It is the first time that such a misfortune has occurred. There were no injuries, no deaths. May God bless you.

I haven't posted the last few days since all I've been smoking is Sutliff 507C Virginia Slices, and it wouldn't have been too interesting to read me just saying, "Sutliff Virginia Slices" 6 times in a row, but this afternoon I'm mixing it up with some Orlik Golden Sliced! I'm sipping it in the Morgan Bones Milan, which really is my favorite Virginia pipe.

It was a really neat experience going back and smoking my old favorite Orlik Golden Sliced again after smoking the Sutliff Virginia Slices the past few days, because it led me to notice a couple things about Orlik Golden Sliced that I had never noticed before.

They're extremely similar bright Virginia flakes with all the usual grass, hay, lemon, citrus, floral, and occasional tea or honey notes you find in a bright Virginia; but the Sutliff's primary note you taste the most is lemon whereas with the Orlik the main note is floral. It almost tastes like a really mild Lakeland at times. There's also a tiny bit of stewed fruit and peppercorn flavor from the Perique in the Orlik that I honestly never noticed at all before in the hundred times I've smoked it, until I directly compared it to the Sutliff Virginia Slices by smoking them back to back. Nifty stuff!

I truly love them both and Orlik Golden Sliced will always have a special place in my heart (and my pipe), but when it really comes down to it I think I prefer the Sutliff 507C Virginia Slices for my everyday rotation bright Virginia! I never thought Orlik Golden Sliced would be dethroned in my rotation, but I just can't get enough of the Sutliff's naturally lemony flavor!puffy

Having some Esoterica Tobacciana Scarborough (2016) in a Savinelli Autograph 000 E with fluted bowl and rounded hexagonal shank and swirled yellow acrylic stem—I believe this designation stands for “000 Eccezionale” to represent a higher grade than the Autograph 000 and comes after the handful of 0000 pipes that were sold through Pipe Pub in Texas in the ’80s and before the highest Autograph grade came to just be called Eccezionale (Extraordinare in the US) and stamped with a single “E.” Based on today’s production numbers, about one in every 250,000 Savinelli pipes is an Eccezionale, although I suspect in recent years there have been more. I recall seeing four on the Savinelli website in 2022 and two in 2024 so far.
