Relaxing after a wonderful salad, orange roughy and green beans dinner with strawberries for dessert. I've passed the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2013 Capstan Blue Flake in a straight 1924 Dunhill’s “Shell Briar” patent pot 7 with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Watching the Braves-Cubs game.

Driving kids around today and all I could smell was cut grass. For some reason it gave me an urge for a pure Virginia. So I went for my favourite, Union Square. Not exactly grassy, hay forward blend, but who cares. If I’m stuck on a desert island with 10 crates of tobacco and 25 pipes (not sure exactly how this scenario would present itself, but I’m thinking big here!) GLP Union Square would definately be one of those crates. As would my favourite pipe, a mid century Sand-Meer Peterson. 😎

Had Mac Baren Vanilla Cream (running low...going to try the flake next) in a blasted Barling egg while finishing up more ranch chores. Great smoke, 9.2/10. It has been some time since I smoked this deep-chambered beast--I should use it more often. An early World No Tobacco Day resolution perhaps? puffy

Bird report: California quail, California scrub-jay, Steller's jay, Mountain chickadee, Dark-eyed junco, House finch, White-breasted nuthatch, Common raven, Red-tailed hawk, Cooper's hawk, Northern flicker, Mourning dove, and California towhee.

Listening to soon-to-be birthday boy Morrissey and eagerly awaiting an eggplant parmesan dinner. Hope everyone is slogging their way through this week; is it going by extra slow or is it just me?
