Apart from smoking my 60th Birthday pipe during the PPV UFC over the weekend, I mostly smoked cigars with our buddy John this past week. Today, I have enough time to sit back uninterrupted to have a pipe solo.
Going to have Brebbia Latakia Flake No. 9 in a Brebbia Golden Gnome Spring Rhodesian 6005 with a flattened oval shank. Supposedly, Brebbia pipes with the Golden Gnome stamp on the stem are from the 1953–1956 period when Enea Buzzi was splitting away from Savinelli; I’m not sure where this info about the stamped stems was sourced—I’ve seen it repeated on various pipe related sites, but with no attribution. I should check with Buzzi’s son if this is indeed the case.

I forgot to mention a couple of things. The pipe does have an inner tube, so it could very well be from the 1950s. I have an e-mail out to Brebbia to find out if there's any truth to the stamped stems being from 1953–1956.

This pipe is usually reserved for English blends, but I’m in that mode of trying the new tobacco in various pipes, and there’s no concern about “ghosting” in this instance. Sometimes I like having those Oriental/Latakia hints in the background of a straight Virginia. It’s super-moist out today, so I’m trying not to have feelings about all the relights.

Did a set of walking reps on this hot, sunny day, and I smoked a bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in an undated straight brush etched black Molina apple with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.
