In my continued spirit for adventure I decided to a try a new (to me) tobacco. On today's menu was Black Irish X by Gawith, Hoggarth & Co loaded in my Guildhall. I've enjoyed the Brown Irish X so much I've really been looking forward to having a go at the darker stuff.
At the start of my adventure, and for a lack of better words, it tasted like how my barbecue grill smells. I got a lot of charred meat, smokiness, and an overall umami taste. Although that theme would mostly persist throughout my bowl it became very enjoyable the further down the bowl I went and became less grill like. The subtle sweetness coupled with the
umami taste made it pretty
umai (delicious).
It should be noted that this was my first smoke of the day and thus my confidence in my novice palate can't be fully trusted yet. Nevertheless, and comparatively speaking, I still prefer it's lesser stoved counterpart, Brown Irish X. But this blend was pretty enjoyable, for my anyways
Hope you all have a great Saturday
