The last crumbs of Aged Burley Flake in this battered old cob. I'm amazed that this pipe is still going strong, I got the stummel second-hand thrown in with another pipe from an antiques shop, and made a stem fit using a few layers of beeswax hemp (bagpipe style) and then a couple coats of clear nail varnish on top. The base of the bowl is starting to wear a bit thin, I reckon it's only a matter of time before the bottom falls out. Beautiful afternoon for a skive in the sunIMG_20250319_141916.jpgIMG_20250319_141418.jpgIMG_20250319_141356.jpg

hands down the coolest looking meer i've ever seen
Funny thing is, I had been searching for quite some time for either a claw and egg meer or a dragon meer, but most of what I found didn't appeal to me and/or were far too expensive for my budget. Then this one popped up being the best of both worlds, and unsmoked, and I got it for a steal. It's like I was meant to have it. I actually rarely smoke it, but only because cleaning it is kind of a pain. Very deep chamber and hard to pass a cleaner. I buy mostly churchwarden cleaners and just trim them in half for regular pipes, but you have to remove the stem on this and it's still difficult. But it always delivers a fantastic smoke when I do smoke it.

View attachment 379426Maiden voyage for an unsmoked Ural meer I picked up. Exclusive in the pipe.

I swear despite the fact that this thing was unsmoked, it’s ghosted with what can only be described as a dusty old drawer taste. LOL. Chamber width is tiny too. I’m guessing the chamber is 1.35 x .65.
Delightful little pipe . . . a real eye-catcher. Chamber is just a shade larger as my McQueen miniatures it seems (they're all 3/4" x 14mm) - (I don't know why McQueen use two measuring systems on their site - I figure if God had wanted us to go metric, He would have given Jesus 10 Apostles - tried unsucsessfully to stay with Imperial up here, like most of my generation 😕 ).

I find the tiny bowls pretty tobacco sensitive - some cuts just don't work. Et vous? Smoked my miniature last night and am about to process a hasty shot in GIMP. Thanks for showing us that little gem.

Skippy Piper's current explorations led me last night to try Smoker's Pride Cherry Cavendish in two pipes, my cherry dedicated meer miniature and a cherry dedicated McQueen Russet, which i'll cover in a later post, plus catching up on replies, when I get back from the range (just leaving now . . . picture crappier than usual - GIMP autoupdated and the new version is a bloated piece of garbage and I'm a user, not a techie)

Had a great smoke. In spite of it's miniscule dimensions, this little fella has a very large bowl, actually a tad larger than the McQueen medium bowls. I can pull an hour with this pipe easy, but did the two stage soft finger pack which I find maximizes flavour, at the tradeoff of a shorter smoke but using less tobacco. Expected 35 minutes or so which is exactly what I got. Might add in spite of its massive $18 price tag, this little sucker is a wonderful smoker. Getting a bit more color, too.

Smokers' Pride Cherry Cavendish, is truly an excellent tobacco, and as Skippy said in his findings, probably his favourite. I concur. And I give another vote for dedicated pipes.

Just ordered another bag of this fodder with a few other goodies :ROFLMAO:

A third of the way through this bowl of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. All the cats have eaten except for Abner the Eager. It's a beautiful day outside, so maybe he'll show up some time. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Wife went off-island early this morning for necessary errands which leaves me with the full pot of coffee all to myself! Continuing my morning coffee with Clan in the Falcon Meer.

I never got out to Orcas Island when I lived in WA. I had lived on Vashon so you could say I lived the island life for a bit lol. My old friend Peter from Milwaukee lives there but I haven’t talked to him in years. He and his partner are artists so if you know him, tell him some guy from Milwaukee says hi lol
