C&D White Burley in my #1 cob.

cob_wb_313.jpg

I discovered after my last smoke in this pipe, that it was overdue for some cleaning. A salt-and-Everclear treatment resulted in some very dark brown salt, and it still reeked after drying. (Had the alcohol extracted and activated some tar that had gone dormant?) At least a half-dozen Everclear-soaked fluffy pipe cleaners came out of the shank brown next. After drying from that, it finally started to smell like a clean pipe.

So when I loaded it up with some straight blending burley, I figured I'd be getting a pretty true taste. It was mild and generally pleasant, but I still got cigar notes along the way. Perhaps that's just my only other reference for unflavored air-cured leaf?

I persist with this tobacco because I'm trying to familiarize myself with the inherent flavors of all the varieties that go into the blends I enjoy, but I could go for a palate cleanser right now. When I want cigar flavors, I'm happy to smoke a cigar! :)

So do I.

About a third of a bowl left of year 2016 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Fed two ferals, and Sleepy Suzy. Watching Mad Dog Russo.

I've been wanting to get a squashed tomato for some time. Anyone have any suggestions on an affordable one?

Half and Half in a Marxman Mel-O carved Pear. My pipe is very ugly, but it smokes better than yours.:)

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am half way through this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Larry's El Salvador Dali, neat, is my drink. Just posted my review of the Sutliff Birds of a Feather Anomalous blend at TR. It's a crumble slice VaPer with Virginias, a touch of burley and a fair amount of Katerini perique. Goes on sale Wednesday.
