A quarter of the way through this bowl of Wilke No. 515 Double Shot in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This is No. 515 with twice the rum of the Basil Rathbone blend. Fed the ferals, and Sleepy Suzy. Molly Danger is snoozin' with m'lady.

The regular 515 is what Rathbone smoked. John doubled the amount of rum upon several requests, so he made it permanent. That is what 515 Double Shot is.
Thanks for the correction! I thought John had indicated that regular No. 515 is the historically "correct" version of the blend but somehow I got turned around the last time I ordered (not John's fault) - have a good supply of both and greatly enjoyed the 2X yesterday!

Thank you, John. It is a birthday gift to myself. The pipe is amazing. Very beautiful. I am breaking this one in the tradition of smoking it in thirds. 1/3 rd full, 2/3rds full, and then finally fully loaded. It's a slow process, but I have found it is an excellent way to get to know your pipe as well as protect it for the future.
Happy Birthday!

Technically this was last night, but I got distracted and then didn't get around to posting...

Winding down Sunday evening with a local B&M's (B. Sleuth & Statesman) house "Seasonal Blend" (black cavendish blend) in a good smoker I found online as a "LOTR" pipe.
It's got a narrow bowl and thick walls, so it burns hot. But the small bowl means I can try different blends after each other in one sitting.
