@Jacob74 Looks a nice colour baccy; do you think it would suit the King's Clay?I just finished up a bowl of PS Highland Whisky in my Jensen, that Dorchester is long finished. Think I'll have a dram of "the Sexton" as a nightcap.

I read this as "Don't forget the Redheads".Don’t forget the Roundheads Dan, not everyone was a clay smoking cavalier! Or the jocks, with their bonnets.
@The Amish Tyrant Still need to get ready for my clay smoke-off with @Ahi Ka. I think my Redcoat's seen better days but if I got a new one it would soon end up smelling of pipeweed...I read this as "Don't forget the Redheads".
While staying away from redheads is sort of a motto, being unable to do so is sort of the root to a bigger problem.
Sigh.
@PipeIT Looks a good tobacco for the King's Clay.Wessex Campaign Dark Flake in a 1931-1967 BBB Wyteway Billiard with a vulcanite stem.
I’m certainly not the top VA/VaPer expert around, but I’ve really been recently going through quite a few VA/VaPers, as these are the blends I’m most fond of at this point in time.
The tin note of of these moist dark flakes is the finest I’ve smelled to date, for any VA/VaPer I’ve tried, quite strong raisins and plums, fresh, and stewed.
Given this amazing fruit smell, I rubbed out a flake, and only gave it a few minutes dry time, and lightly packed it still quite moist, as I was afraid to possibly loose flavors if dried to much. Next time I’ll give it more dry time.
Be well everyone!

Both of those are impressive! The first one is my choice….a little ash would give it character!@Backwoods Briar I've seen a few I like but I don't want to drop pipe ash down it
I like this one:

The problem is if I got a new Redcoat I'd want to smoke my pipe more, it would end up smelling of pipeweed and I'd run the risk of dropping pipe ash and burning a hole in it...
@Backwoods Briar I'll have to get one - and pipe baccy is probably a period correct smellBoth of those are impressive! The first one is my choice….a little ash would give it character!
Hey Clay King, what about using one jacket only for smoking your clay and get another one for just looking good,@Backwoods Briar I'll have to get one - and pipe baccy is probably a period correct smell
Expensive smoking jacket though; it would go with the Jamestown clay and my tricorne!
Wouldn't wear it around Nantwich though - I might get shot
Its always a crap shoot, but this was was a BIG win! Delightful stuff.@alaskanpiper Wow - I don't think I'd fancy smoking tobacco that old in my clay pipes!
@Backwoods Briar Good idea; I couldn't afford 2 jackets and when I go to re-enactment events I like to smoke a clay while I'm there, especially if I can get it lit from a fire or forge. A while back there was a "Match or Lighter" post on this forum; I responded saying a blacksmith's forge is best I think the Redcoat would go with my tricorn and Jamestown clay, along with some old world twist or plug. Need to dry it out ready for smoking in the clay though!Hey Clay King, what about using one jacket only for smoking your clay and get another one for just looking good,
@Backwoods Briar I suppose I could keep the old one just as a smoking jacket...Hey Clay King, what about using one jacket only for smoking your clay and get another one for just looking good,
I know what you mean about the twist, I’ve been wrestling around with the brown bogie in my tavern clay… will practice with it till I get it down!@Backwoods Briar Good idea; I couldn't afford 2 jackets and when I go to re-enactment events I like to smoke a clay while I'm there, especially if I can get it lit from a fire or forge. @Backwoods Briar Dad says I should get a green rifleman's coat like Sharpe's...I know what you mean about the twist, I’ve been wrestling around with the brown bogie in my tavern clay… will practice with it till I get it down!
@Backwoods Briar How long did it take you to smoke and did you have to relight?I know what you mean about the twist, I’ve been wrestling around with the brown bogie in my tavern clay… will practice with it till I get it down!
