***What Are You Smoking, March 2021?***

Just finished a very long bowl of 6-year-old Solani Silver Flake in a Punto Oro 413 KS.

I'm always shocked at how damned delicious this tobacco is.

Complimented nicely by a nice strong cup of black Kenyan coffee. I'm trying to compare it to (old) Three Nuns, Peter Heinrich's DSF and Orlik DSK. So far I'm enjoying this the most.

On my porch this evening smoking HH Bold Kentucky mixed 50-50 with Christmas Cheer 2010 (because I'm a wimp) in a Ser Jacopo Rustic Bent Billiard. This has become my favorite pipe.

McCranies Red ribbon 1996 crop tinned in 2005 from a recent pipestud drop that arrived today!!! In a very special Alden.

Tin is super aged as the tobacco going in to it but it lacks any plume or crystalization? Definitely not like my aged St. James flake!
I t has the vinegary/ketchupy aroma upon opening and is a gentle and delightful smoke.

Which is what I think is inhibiting the plume, possibly?!

Either way, wish I was in the game back in 2005! Nice treat for sure!

During today's lively and informative (and of course, fun) ZOOM meeting, I smoked some Timm's London Blend 1000, from 1999, in my Tim West Smooth Rhodesian sitter. A mug of Barrie House coffee, a 50/50 mix of Espresso and Sumatra beans, went quite well with the strong and mellow LB 1000.

Report please. How is it? I once mixed Mac Baren Old Dark Fired and Navy Flake. Both were better separately.

PS Amsterdam, an apparently discontinued blend, in a smooth Luciano author, a discontinued pipe, but one of the few with the year of completion, 2013, stamped on the pipe. A nice mild blend with a bit of edge.

Just finished smoking year 2014 HU Directors Cut in a smooth straight Lane era Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad. Had a long, lively chat with a old college buddy.

Two successive bowls of C&D Three Friars in a Falcon blasted bantam Dublin. Great stuff, but I must puff gently. Is this a characteristic of C&D burleys? This is the only blend of theirs I smoke with a burley presence.
