How's it going?
I enjoyed it! It's tamer than I expected. I was expecting a spice bomb with that crazy Perique percentage, but it's pretty well-behaved. Kind of semi-sweet, and a bit sour and funky, too. Will take more bowls to get a better read on it, I think. Kind of a strange one.I've not yet cracked one of my tins. Let us know your thoughts!
See, I didn't know a cob was a big horse, myself, so maybe it was a smart move. Still, why not just call it Big-Ass Horse Flake then? I think that would really capture a sense of tradition, as well as notify the smoker that this flake will kick you in the fucking face with it's nicotine content. ?Just a guess, but I think it's because they assume British ppl know that Cob=big horse, but Americans think Cob=corncob pipe, and some sales rep probably suggested it should be changed to avoid association with cheaper economy tobaccos that drug stores used to push alongside MMs. Also, Americans are suckers for made up dates that prop up a legend or mythology of long standing history and quality, especially when it comes to tobacco and whisky. "It might seem weird, but it's been around for over 200 years for a reason"-type marketing.
Cob is also an old Cornish name for a spider, hence “cobweb”, I seriously doubt it has a damn thing to do with plug tobacco though.See, I didn't know a cob was a big horse, myself, so maybe it was a smart move.
