Starting off this month with a bowl of year 2015 H&H Viprati in a 2018 smooth straight flame grain Basil Meadows Merchant Service "Bing" replica with an aluminum band and black ebonite stem. Watching an episode of Mike Hammer.

Just finishing this bowl of year 2014 Dunhill Flake in a straight smooth dark brown 1916 Barling The Hunt with beautiful silver work and a black vulcanite saddle stem with an orific bit. Ice water and bergs is my drink. It's almost time for the first game of the Braves-Tigers double header.

A third of the way through this bowl of year 2013 Capstan Blue Flake in a straight black sandblasted 1924 Parker’s Super Briar Bark 11 billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe was made in the second year of Parker production.

Good morning all. I've been smoking through some GLP Montgomery that I jarred about a year ago. I'm working through some of the many open tins and jars while letting some other stuff age and not really buying much at the moment since a daughter is getting married early next year.
The Montgomery is ok if a tad tongue tingly. I don't think I will restock this blend.
My first three-plus years of pipe smoking have involved discovering favorites and trying new things according to what you guys rave about. I'm getting a better handle on what I like well enough to smoke most of the time and will focus mainly on those blends, subject of course to the vagaries of changing tastes on my part, and ingredients on the blenders.
Among the staples now, I count Old Gowrie, HH Pure Virginia, Capstan Blue (perhaps Gold also), Peterson Flake, Fillmore, Stratford, and Telegraph Hill. The closest things to Unicorns that I'm prepared to chase are WCC Rhythm & Blues, and of course, Rouxgaroux.
HH's Old Dark Fired and Burley Flake, plus Pease's Quiet Nights and Chelsea Morning also make the cut.
Wow! There's just so much great tobacco.

Don’t sell yourself short, you’re right, there’s so much great tobacco out there, and I think it’s one of the great things about the pipe, trying different blends.

I’m always excited seeing what’s out there.

I think it would be really sad, if a time ever came, to not be interested in seeing what’s out there to be explore.

So be sure, when you’ve got an extra buck, try something!

We all will certainly settle on blends, but I figure, if I’ve gone through every VA in the USA as an example, then check out what’s happening in other other countries as an example next.
