Red Virginia in the Bones Poker with morning coffee.
View attachment 404876Operation Doom update: second dose of foam on the wasp nest entrance this morning--still had activity. Contemplating squashing the spot with the backhoe...
We had an issue last year at the family cottage. There were ground nesting yellowjackets under the parking area. One day I pulled in, turned the truck off, found my hat, etc., and had the door just cracked open to get out when I looked up and saw a massive swarm in front of the truck and by the wheels. I closed the door, backed out of there and parked on the street. Nothing followed me, and I walked by the area (about 25 yards off to the side), there wasn’t much activity. That was fairly late in the summer, and as long as we avoided the exact 2 or 3 square feet over the nest, we had no problems. After the first couple of frosts we gave the nest about half a gallon of gasoline (yes, I capped and moved the gas can across the property; been there, done that before 🔥) and fired it up. After it burned for a while, we dug it up and smashed the rest of combs.

XXV Dawn in a Peterson 2024 Xmas X105. Dawn is considerably different than CRF, which is something I was wondering about. Much softer and less stout and zippy than CRF. Lots of subdued sweetness, a touch of light almost berry-like fruit, but with a persistent savory/woody (kinda cedary) note that’s really nice. It’s mild, but a lot going on flavor-wise.

EDIT: I’m in my office (i.e., a spare bedroom where I had our whole house fan installed instead of the hallway precisely so I could smoke in here) with my skylight window opened. There is a decent thunderstorm going right over me, and I’m getting the full thunder experience. The window lets in a bit of spray, but nothing more than that. What a nice way to enjoy a bowl.

Whoa! Just as I finished typing that paragraph there was a very close lightning strike and the thunder shook the house!!

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am smoking year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. The last of this bag of Gold Star Peruvian Macchu Picchu, neat, is my drink. Getting ready to clean a few pipes.

I actually laughed out loud at your list of "refreshments."
Draggin’ a$$ today, hopefully the clouds keep the convection that builds our T-storms at bay, but there’s still a good chance tonight will have call-out activity.

Smoking is pretty repetitive, the FlameGrain Meerschaum Kaywoodie is getting a workout-it’s steady breezy.
Now enjoying Black Twist, debating if another Red Bull would be a good or bad idea. I’m thinking I’ll save it to pound later if/when I get called out tonight…

If there is anyone who has a forge you can pour molten aluminum down them and make some spectacular sculptures.

Lorenzetti Augustus Caesar 03 packed with PeeDee. I really like this blend. It's exactly what I wanted to come home to today. And it's hitting the spot. Beautiful day out today. Was cutting some curbs into a roof today and boy was it hot but when the wind would blow it felt great. Just a gorgeous day and I'm glad to be home.1000002278.jpg
