Captain Black Regular/Original (white pouch), in an EE2 "Olivecob". Elementary as a pipe can be, it is consisted of one minimalistic, cylindrical olivewood bowl and a straight bamboo stem, no glue, no nothing and yes...it smokes well.

Almost forgot-I had Irish Flake/FVF mix again this evening taking care of the horses while the wife bathed the midget, this time in my Stanwell for Poul Olsen “My Own Blend” blasted 079.
Speaking of midgets, my granddaughter entered the world this afternoon-7lb 4oz, healthy, and beautiful.
Her brother was being a stubborn little cuss this afternoon, but saw the ramifications of “faff around and find out” and got his attitude squared away.

Almost a third of the way through this bowl of year 2020 C&D Virginia Flake in straight medium brown 1922-1937 Irish Free State era Peterson 222 bullcap with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem.

After getting thoroughly knocked down a peg by that 1792 Flake I haven't felt overly inclined to smoke any especially strong blends since then, so today I've just been sipping away on some non-threatening pure Virginia blends that I know won't put me in bed with nicotine sickness for an entire day afterwards.

This afternoon's pick is G.L. Pease Union Square, in a Dr. Grabow Lark.

If you enjoy darker tasting Virginia flakes like Mac Baren's HH Pure Virginia or Samuel Gawith's Full Virginia Flake then Union Square is one of the very best in my book! The dark, earthy, moldering leaf litter flavor of this one always makes me think of the autumn whenever I smoke it. Very smooth on the retrohale with a nice medium nicotine strength, it's a great pure Virginia blend for the colder months of the year or anytime you feel like reminiscing about them.

In pursuing VAs, you might try finding some Wessex Brown Flake and see how that stacks up for you.

Almost a third of the way through this bowl of year 2020 Angler's Dream in a 1984 Stanwell Antique 124 egg with a smooth brown front and a black sandblasted back with a dark gold ferrule and black vulcanite stem in the military mount style. Had to do extra duty to make sure all the ferals ate. Still no Abner the Eager. I may end the day with this smoke if I get everything done that I have to do.
