Really, a beautiful and very elegant pipe. Before, I did not appreciate smooth pipes so much, with time, I have discovered and opened my eyes, to appreciate pipes with smooth finishes. Good for you, dear friend Jim.
Thank you for the very kind words. This is an interesting subject to me. I prefer smooth pipes because of the tactile feel of the bowl in my hand. And when the grain is of superior quality, that adds to the beauty of the pipe.

A couple of friends of mine prefer blasted pipes. I do enjoy a good sandblast, and when it's exceptionally craggy, looking at it to see the highs and lows of the ridges and overall texture is almost akin to seeing images in the clouds in the sky.

Thanks to you Jim. It's an honor and a pleasure. I love your vision of the world of pipes and tobacco. God bless you my friend.

Did a second set of walking reps in the brutal heat and humidity, and am close to finishing this bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem. Plenty of ice water and bergs is my drink.

Considered, against my better judgement as I don't enjoy babysitting adults, on starting a local pipe club (though my ulterior motive would be to trade bowls and taste things I'm interested in without having to buy a whole tin). Saw there was a local pipe group on Facebook with 25 members. They seem like they never meet in person and are 99% cigar smokers, though a mention in there popped up for a local B&M that apparently had a pipe show a few months back with reps from C&D and Peterson.

I presumed the place was just cigars but decided to check them out, and they might as well be just a cigar shop. Three huge humidor rooms of cigars, with the only pipe stuff being a handful of $7 cobs, a few very dingy and gross looking jars of bulk, and a handful of C&D tins with nothing much else, though they did have a tin of Mac Baren HH Old Dark Fired, so I walked out with 1.75 oz tin of that, never to cross their doors again.

I've been hitting the burley-based flakes hard as of late, and since I have a tin of the HH Burley Flake on order, in addition to what I got today, I decided to change it up with some gently rubbed out PSLNF, with cranberry juice to start and black coffee to finish.

@timt , what are we smoking tomorrow? ?
Well, it's either going to be 2019 Dunbar which I've smoked quite a bit of recently or Bayou Morning Flake, which I haven't tried but really think I should. I've only got 3 tins of it and since I've heard great things about it, I think I need to smoke some and see if I should add some more. Sound like a plan? Which one sounds good to you?
