Started off my day smoking a Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Cigarillo for the short drive into work. Throughout the day I sipped on a bowl of Half and Half in a MM Country Gent then packed the same pipe with HH Pure Virginia for the ride home from work, glad I folded and stuffed because it lasted the entire ride even with an extra hour of traffic ?. Going to wrap up the smoking day with a quick Drew Estate Tabak Especial Dark Roast (Maduro) Cigarillo, they are a much better smoke then I thought they’d be which figures seeing as its Drew Estate (I may be biased seeing as they started in NYC ?).

And to add to my long post I’m still working on the same half pack of cigs from this morning! I can see my Cig-less goal line!

That’s some beautiful countryside around there, have you climbed the peaks?
@Birddog66 Yes I've been up some of them and planning to get out of town more this year.
I especially enjoyed wearing the red coat and smoking a clay pipe at the Wellington Monument at Baslow Edge!

Sipping on lovely bowl of PS LNF in between episodes of Deadwood.

Re watching the series before we watch the movie.

Very sweet this time around, lovely stuff; wish I could fast forward time and age a batch 20 years or so.

I just brought the movie, Deadwood is one of my favourite shows. Not strictly accurate but brilliant, apparently Calamity Jane actually ran whores for Al Swerengen as opposed to being his enemy, a complex woman to say the least.

I have some that came with that already on the stem. The ones that didn't have a coating I used nail polish. Some also use a thin wax coating / chapstick, etc.

I think the red stuff might be similar to the sealing wax used to hold letters together in days past. It’s quite common to see them in the UK with the red around the mouthpiece, it’s still available at some stationary shops and with calligraphy sets.

Finally beginning to return to a semblance of rhythm after a maddening few weeks at work. Trying a Cranberry & Hibiscus Crumble Cake sent by a forum member. The crumble was almost jet black and very solidly pressed. As dense as it was I was surprised it stayed lit without any trouble whatsoever. The (I keep wanting to say "plug") cake is not an aromatic as the exotic toppings enhance the qualities of the tobaccos without overtaking them in prominence. I have no idea what tobaccos are here, but I feel like there may be a Virginia Cavendish or stoved Virginia as there is a foundational hint of sweetness that suggests process and not topping. There is also a floral nose which may be the hibiscus, or possibly an Oriental of some kind? It wouldn't surprise me if there was also a little Périque though it would be difficult to say so conclusively given the assertive body of the tobaccos, generally. For me it's an early evening smoke as it's a little heavier in body. Followed it up with a bowl of De Luxe Navy Rolls which, frankly, was nowhere near as good. Smoked in a Jeantet.

A rough day with minor flooding of the bathroom and unhealthy tax bills has had me hitting the pipes pretty hard, my tongue feels like a Virginia Ham. I’m rounding off the night with something sweet, Autumn Evening in a stubby Goede Waagen clay that tricked me into thinking it was a meer, sneaky bugger. I’ve shown it with some beeswax and “old school” sealing wax, I’m interested in a more expert opinion than my own limited experience with clays on the correct coating of the stem. image.jpg
