No, they aren't the same as Cobblestone. At least not any that I have tried. I'm working my way through reviewing all five Cascadia blends, and should finish by mid-week.How do you like that Cascadia? I’m waiting to see how the community likes them before I order a tin. Are they the same as Cobblestone?
We were in an apartment before moving to our 1/4 acre suburban block. Prior to the move I negotiated with my wife (she loves gardening and wanted a house with a garden) that she do all the gardening if I looked after all the financials. And it's worked out fine to this day.Just two. The bowls on these cobs are small, 20 minutes at the most. With trimming takes about an hour and a half, so it works out. Riding my mower smokin cobs in my shorts and flip flops.
I’m a big fan of Mac Baren Navy flake what is the Differencevbetween the regular and the Uncut? Now smoking some Mac Baren Uncut Navy Flake in a blasted Smithhouse Pipes Bing Billard with nickel accent and drinking Black Rifle Black coffee.View attachment 86729
Never mind - too many cocktails. I see that it is a plug cutI’m a big fan of Mac Baren Navy flake what is the Differencevbetween the regular and the Uncut?
Ya I would definitely give it a go if you're interested. Definitely a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it you can make some really nice blends that suit what you like. Also a good lesson on what all the individual constituents of a blend are.I’m looking into whole leaf at the moment, I’d love to have a go making my own blends. Thanks for the inspiration and good luck ?
Chris is a cracking lad and his pipes smoke every bit as well as they look. He has just finished one based on a pipe seen in the film “Hateful Eight” for Mark aka North East Piper. It’s a beauty ?Saw BJV post this on FB and Insta too. Very fine pipe! He’s been kind to field a few of my silly newbie questions. Definitely love his designs and will keep a close eye on what he makes. Cheers!
I see that you've also got one of those Savinelli ashtrays
I didn’t know it was Savinelli, I thought it might have been Longchamp but there’s no mark, it was only a fiver though so I’m happy ?

Thanks for the advice and the offer, I’ve discovered the delight of stoving already, I can’t wait to try it on a creation of my own.Ya I would definitely give it a go if you're interested. Definitely a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it you can make some really nice blends that suit what you like. Also a good lesson on what all the individual constituents of a blend are.
The addition of perique turned out great. It's a bomb for sure, but a cool smoking one at that. Id like to press all the components(kentucky , latakia, virginia, perique) and then stove it(I've done it before, but not in these exact proportions). Probably would turn out nice for this one, smoothing any rough edges. Stoving was a big game changer as far as blending goes. And a good stoved plug is a magical thing.
Haha okay enough slightly drunk ranting...you can hit me up if you got questions about whole leaf processing or blending. Cheers!
2nd smoke of the day - Peterson Connoiseur's Choice in a Kiko Amboseli meer with fumed rim.
It has hardly been smoked I bought this in the mid-1970s
I got out this pipe in response to the many "see how my meer is colouring" posts as I was curious to see how difficult it is to colour an African meer.
I've been smoking an aromatic blend 3-4 times a month for the past 3 months, and am happy to report that It has taken on a nice caramel colour since (from the original light sand tone)View attachment 90536
