Is Nicotiana (sold as a house plant) the tobacco plant?
I would be useful to know how to turn the leaves into something to smoke in my clay pipes...
I wouldn’t mess about with anything in the nightshade family, @halfdan . Sure, they give us nice things like tobacco, tomatoes, and potatoes, but some species will kill you dead. When I was a kid I worked in a plant nursery, and we sold the ornamental plants you’re talking about, but I have no idea if they’re safe to smoke. Best not risk it unless you know for sure.

Today and tonight, let‘s see… started off the afternoon with Uhle’s 00 in a pear wood… bent billiard to be specific. That was pretty good, so followed it up with Classic Burley Kake in a Foreverstemmed Country Gent. Skipped dinner on account of a big, late breakfast, and started the evening with Viprati in an old Bjarne Nielsen handmade concoction that’s somewhere between a ball and a tomato. Then on to Wilke Bestmake in an Italian Stanwell No. 11 (non che ci sia qualcosa di sbagliato in questo). For dessert I’m currently sipping on Iwan Ries Three Star Blue in a Foreverstemmed Country Gent.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, wild caught catfish, and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm smoking year 2013 Stonehaven in a straight black sandblasted 1957 Barling Exel 249 Fossil T.V.F. black billiard with a silver banded military mount and a black ebonite tapered stem. Expresso #9, neat, is my drink. Cleaning a few pipes as I watch the ball game.

Started today with a bowl of ODF from a Savinelli 'Oscar' Aged briar paneled billiard.

Followed that with a Tatuaje black label.

Dabbing some Cookies (LA) 'Cereal Milk' cold cured rosin from a Grav Hourglass pocket bubbler.

I never got to those aforementioned Flake Medallions yesterday so I christened the Moonshine Stublin.

Now I'm getting nostalgic for sugar on snow at the maplehouse with a bowl of Autumn Evening out of a Peterson system apple.

Today, I did nothing. Unless you consider binging season 2 of The Umbrella Academy and smoking tasty things an accomplishment?

"Incestuous Blend. A mix of stoved bright Virginias, Virginia Cavendish, Perique(d) Burley and Virginia leaf, and just threatened with Latakia."

Gift from a member of another forum, years ago. Misplaced it until now. Home-made from whole leaf, I believe, if not home-grown. Kind of a pebble cut, completely dried to a crisp. Best smoke I've had in quite a while. SMS bulldog meerschaum is the vessel.
