Forward leaning and bulbous in the middle the almost tulip-shaped bowl on a thin stem has a lot in common with early 20th Century meerschaums (and 17th Century clays) although, as can be seen below, briars of the early 20th Century were also made with similar shaped bowls:-

A rare evening bowl. Had my first try of Mac Baren HH Pure Virginia. The first third of the bowl was okay, but once the flavors kicked in I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of flavor. No rough edges at all, burned cool and developed more Virginia flavors as the bowl progressed. If the next few bowls are this good, I can see myself adding a nice quantity to my cellar.
