Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and have passed the first third of this bowl of year 2013 Rotary Navy Cut in a post-1938 Pre-Republic Peterson Dublin straight smooth X155 bulldog with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Nigel Bruce smoked this model in two Sherlock Holmes movies. Please consider asking Shane Ireland at Smoking Pipes and Peterson to bring the pipe back into production. Gold Star Peruvian Macchu Picchu, neat, is my drink. Watching Bat Masterson with Sleepy Suzy by my side.

I always thought Bruce looked more natural with a pipe than Rathbone.

I've been keeping these samples to smoke on the perfect occasion. I'm realizing though that if I wait too long, I might never find "the perfect occasion" and should enjoy them in the moment. No disrespect intended - and if it's the case, I apologize. A wonderful gift of Esoterica Dorchester 2021 from @TheIronMonkey for January 1st in the Parker zulu. What a nuanced smoke! There is something floral about these Esoterica blends that is just sublime. The only current production that I've found that comes close, (so far, in my limited tastings) is G.L. Pease Quiet Nights. Any other suggestions? Thank you once again my friend - it was a very kind gift! And a happy new year to all!

May you all be granted many years, health and joy! The best of good cheer to everyone in 2025…

Finished some wood hauling and splitting and I am now enjoying a bowl of AbF / BK in my 1969 root billiard while looking at the last day of the Christmas lights. Time to kindle a fire in the stove.

Well, Happy New Year to All, and to All a Good Pipe. First smoke of the New Year for me was very predictable. Mad Fiddler in my McQueen Miniature Barrel Rider.

And after you see this revamped photo, I'll Need a Little Help From My Friends.

IMGP5411opt.JPG

As you may or may not be aware, a couple of months ago I bought an estate pipe, a Ropp 350 from the 1950s, cleaned it up, rebroke it in, and began smoking it with Pirate Cake as a dedicated Rx vehicle for my all to frequent cases of tongue bit. Smoked great, and so far so good.

With it's first major cleaning after my "restoration" job, I inserted a pipe cleaner from the business end, and where the former owner had kinda chewed it up a bit, the indentation turned into a V shaped hole as shown in the pictures below.

The draw was completely changed and ruined, the usual pipe condoms don't fit well over the business end and make matters worse. It was unsmokeable.

My solution so far is electricians' tape cut to size, and wrapped, and even though it works, I figure it's just a temporary measure until its separation and/or other disintegration takes place. This already seems to be happening. I'm a useless handiman, and now asking for a little help because I know some of you are not and have restored heritage pipes.

It's a sweet smoker, but so are other pipes of mine, and I'm not above pitching it out or giving it away to someone who has the skills and patience to deal with this. I have neither.

Suggestions please!

Thanks
Gord
