First smoke of the year was Captain Black Copper (sample) in a Savinelli Mattone 614 faux-Hungarian. Took about four or five hours to dry to what I deemed an acceptable level. All I can say is...

2025 is shaping up to be pretty good. Prettty, prettty...prettty good! 😆
Love the grain on this. I’ve got a Mattone 106 with interesting grain as well, pretty cool for a cheaper line.

I dig it too--has a unique matte feel to it, which I've always liked. This is actually my second Mattone; the shape of the first one just fell out of favor with me and I traded it away. But I still felt fond of the line, and when I had to replace a Tortuga 614 that I broke about a year ago, I saw this one come up on SP's estates page...well, I knew it was just meant to be! 😍

I rang in the New Year with a crowd of old friends and family at my neighbor's house. He shared his stash of hand-rolled Cuban leaf cigars from Switzerland, beautifully made and of incredible taste and aroma (I smoked it 'til it burned my fingers and singed my moustache). I drank a Glencairn or two of Jack Daniel's Sinatra Select. An absolutely superb way to welcome 2025!
Happy New Year my Forum friends!

Half way through this bowl of Wilke No. 515 in a 1998 smooth straight Butz-Choquin Bistro 1501 pot with a black vulcanite saddle stem. This was the original 515 that Basil Rathbone smoked. I'll end the day with this smoke. Been traffic copping feral feeding. At least they don't go to the bedroom so Molly Danger always eats in peace. Sleepy Suzy ate, too.
