In case you missed it this is from a previous post.

I have several Savinelli filter pipes I use to smoke an occasional aromatic. Here's how to save money on the filters. Instead of buying the actual filters. I go on ebay and buy a pack of balsa wood rods in the right size (3/16x1/8") and cut them to length and that's it. Cost is about 10% the cost of filters and they work just as well. A tip: if you cut the ends on a slight angle the pipe draws .

Partial bowl of Mac Baren Vanilla Flake in a Savinelli Mattone 614 faux-Hungarian. Even freezing my ass off as the sun went behind the mountain, I was able to thoroughly enjoy this one, one of the lowest maintenance bowls I've had in some time. But only because I dried the hell out of it. 9.5/10

Bird report: Dark-eyed junco, White-crowned sparrow, Chipping sparrow, Golden-crowned sparrow, California towhee, Steller's jay, California scrub-jay, House finch, American crow, Spotted towhee, Oak titmouse, White-breasted nuthatch, Mountain chickadee, and Northern flicker.

Opened a 2017 tin of GLP Blackpoint for a winter walk this morning in a Sean Reum pipe. It was a smooth smoke with the savory peppery notes of Perique I love.

This evening combined two of my favorite: C&D’s Byzantium in a Ser Jacopo “Bing style” long stem pipe.
