I've been really putting this rusticated Dr. Grabow Royalton to work today! First I smoked C&D Pegasus, then Carter Hall, then Prince Albert, and now Carter Hall again.puffy

Historically Carter Hall has always been my favorite of the bunch, though since I started smoking my Burley blends with Dr. Grabow filters to smooth them out a bit I think I might actually like Prince Albert best. With Carter Hall I really taste the whiskey topping and the acidity of the bright Virginias the most when it's run through a filter, but with Prince Albert what I get the most of is cocoa and the natural nutty Burley flavor. Carter Hall seems a bit sweeter as well.

It's still a darn tough choice which I like better though, so I think I may have to do a week where I smoke nothing but Prince Albert and Carter Hall to really make up my mind about which I like best and should stock up on!
For the past few months, I've also gravitated towards the old standards, my current favourite being Sir Walter Raleigh. But I'm sure I could live with any of them. They form a basis from which you can alternate to a variety of tobaccos.

That pipe - it's very understated, but very elegant. Doesn't initially grab your eye, but gets better with each view. I passed over your thread several times, and had a closer look each time, before I made this comment. Items like that, places like that, music like that, and people like that, are what make life so rich!

Range day today. Going to shoot my pistols this afternoon, as I did last week Have a couple of new pellets to try out on the Alpha.

Packing up and just about to light up my only smoke until this evening, Bourbon Bleu in a McQueen Miniature Barrel Rider.

I have two of these stellar little jobs, the other one dedicated to Mad Fiddler. MF will be my evening smoke in the Ropp J16. Will pack the necessary chew and a couple of home rollies for the festivities.

You will LOVE your J16. I plan on getting a rusticated version one day. (I have the smooth, and I'll be posting my Mad Fiddler smoke of this evening later on in the evening.. Along with my Ropp J07, the Brigham Tundra Rhodesian (entry level model!!), the McQueen miniature Barrel Rider I just posted about 20 minutes ago, and my Savinelli Avorio - these are my best smoking pipes of the 3 dozen I own. And except for the Sav, none of these break the bank.

The J04 also looks delightful, but I have no experience with it. Bravo!

Did a set of walking reps, and smoked a bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a slight bent black pattern etched 1977 Lorenzo Lorsan Sigma level top billiard with a gray swirl acrylic saddle stem. Then, I enjoyed a tall sack of cinnamon raisin French toast with a golden delicious apple on the side. Taking a forum break this afternoon to work on the book I am co-editing and co-writing. Going to interview a former president of DC Comics. See ya later today.
