I’m breaking out a dinosaur. This is an old Jobey pipe that was given to me (like a fruit cake) unsmoked a number of years ago. Instead of re-gifting it, I decided to keep it around. I figured it could be used (by someone else) when someone wanted to try smoking a pipe. Since then, this pipe has only been smoked 5 or 6 times. The bit is uncomfortable and the draw very restricted. A regular pipe cleaner almost has to be greased to get it into the airway. None the less, it was meant to be smoked, so I’m now loading it up with G&H Brown Flake Aromatic and giving it a go. Not a bad looking pipe, though.View attachment 366616
Apologies! I made a terrible mistake on this one! The pipe is an old Jelling pipe, NOT a Jobey! It actually smokes pretty well.

C&D Burley Flake #3 in a cob for the ride home. Castello for eye candy. My curiosity/mania for trying new blends in search of favorites has caused my actual favorites to be neglected. I’ve got aged tins of Old Joe Krantz and Haunted Bookshop that I won’t open because I know I’ll love them. Gotta try new stuff. Ridiculous haha. View attachment 366571
That pipe really is a fine looking piece. Eye candy indeed!

I've now got a stash of about 30 tobaccos, some of a few ounces at best and a dozen or so of 8 ounces to almost a pound (salut to Smoker's Pride and the Reserve store). Enough to last me probably until I croak. I've come to the conclusion (practicality - forced on me and probably lots of others, and is even hitting the US now) because of tobacco prices and availability), that every one of them has something to enjoy about it. Pragmatism is probably going to be the rule of thumb in these days of uhhh . . . weirdness?

I'd love to buy more, and more pipes too, but after just getting hit with new and improved property taxes, gas prices, a truck repair I cannot afford (I no longer drive), hikes in electricity, food prices, a fixed pension, it's well past time to exercise prudence and moderation, virtues I don't have in abundance. Like many others I and probably a lot of you, it's water treading time, time to hold the fort and batten the hatches.

No change from yesterday - Irish Cask in the old Meer - most of the day spent fruitlessly looking for stuff Mrs Badger swears she had me put up in the attic years ago, then embarking on the Dead Sea Scrolls whilst waiting for a very belated delivery of firewood logs. Driver got lost, despite my directions. No GPS signal, he said. At least he arrived before it got dark.

Morning now. Insomnia last night, tried a pipe at about 3am. Nahhhh . . . . . just didn't enjoy it and let it go out. Taste buds inoperative. Same with a little cigar. Finally got to sleep. Tried again when I woke up, with a McQueen miniature and Borkum Riff Cherry Cavendish. Yeah. This one worked. Great quick smoke. Went okay with leftover coffee at room temperature.

No go on getting the computer out today. Lousy, wet snow, cold and lack of ambition 🤣

A quarter of a bowl left of Watch City English Ernie-ental in a straight dark brown and tan rusticated Peterson 2023 Saint Patrick’s Day 264 Canadian with an Irish flag colored ferrule and tapered black acrylic stem. Abner the Eager was just that when he saw me, and is eating now. Everybody else has been fed, except for me, and I'll eat after I do a set of walking reps.
