That was a bit Peterson tried in the early 20th century. It lasted two or three years. Mark Irwin wanted to bring it back, and a group of us got the stems (made by Silver Gray) to see how they would do.
Did you end up liking it? It looks like the smoke comes out of the sides unless I’m misunderstanding. Also, as a fellow southern Oregonian, that’s awesome that Silver is making the stems.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, barramundi and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I've passed the first third of this bowl of year 2015 Mac Baren Virginia #1 in a pre-1923 smooth dark brown early Comoy’s Prior (Gros, Grenier, Ostero & Cie.) pot with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Time to clean a few pipes.
