First smoke of the new year and thanks to a generous member on these forums I am smoking Germain King Charles out of my Golden Square meerchaum lined straight billiard. Having never smoked Germains I am getting accustomed to the shag style cut and learning very quickly this blend rewards with small intermittent gentle puffs so as to not overheat. It is well with my soul.

More lunting this afternoon w/the family. About five coins' worth of Mac Baren Vanilla Roll Cake in my MM Country Gent. Bird report: Oak titmouse, California quail, House finch, and Acorn woodpecker. Ground is still unbelievably saturated. Feels more like Seattle than SoCal!

Ready for some homemade Daal this evening. Beginning Season 2 of the original Star Trek. Wish my parents named me "Deforest." That'd have been so cool...

Enjoyed a wonderful salad, chicken legs and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm just finishing this bowl of year 2015 Mac Baren Virginia #1 in a three quarter bend smooth dark brown Made in Ireland (1938-1948) pre-Republic Peterson 367 with a 5 in a circle Shamrock apple military mount with a black vulcanite flared p-lip saddle stem.
