@craig61a Nice pipe, I like the banding on the stem. I bet the Gawith plug tasted good 👍 in the clay pipe. I think Gawith tobacco is well suited to clays; can you imagine how much Gawith tobacco has been smoked in clay pipes over the years????
I like to keep the clay pipe & Gawith tobacco tradition alive:)

Good afternoon guys. Before lunch. Smoking some leftover tobacco from last night. GLP Spark Plug, in a MM Diplomat bent. And glass of red wine. A cool and cloudy day. I have asked the wise men from the east for some bottles of whiskey, but the secretary called me and told me that the camels do not admit so many liters of cargo. I am going to call the secretary general of NATO, to see if he will lend me a cargo plane, I think I have his WhatsApp here.

Everything you’re about to read is based off of only one bowl, but I have to answer the question so here it goes: Enjoyable! It was fun to recognize the flavor from smoking blends like Oriental Silk and Orions Arrow. It’s educational for me to smoke a single strain and I enjoy the flavors from a single strain/type of tobacco.

The flavors got torched when I got the bowl too hot but a return to sipping brought back the nuance of the flavors. There was some spice, some occasional tang, and flavors I can’t describe. I really enjoyed it and will smoke some more.
Thank you. I have been wanting to try single types also. Have ordered some Izmir for that purpose.

Someone started a thread about the oldest blends that people have cellared. After looking through it, I chose Middleton’s Cherry blend, of which I have maybe just under 2 lbs of, and I reckon is of late 1960’s/early 1970’s vintage.

I have a Stanwell Brushed Brown 408 dedicated to this blend which is what I’m smoking it in.

The tobacco is in fine condition and the taste is very good. The Cherry flavoring sublimates the tobacco, but the Virginia and Burley come through under that. More of a Maraschino Cherry flavor as opposed to modern Cherry flavors. It’s a tobacco I enjoy every now and then.
