Half way through this bowl of year 2012 Rolando’s Own in a smooth straight early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Had a great day with Basil Meadows smoking different pipe tobacco, eating pizza, and chatting about all kinds of subjects.

MRC into a shield above MARCEE

(MARECHAL, RUCHON & CIE - MRC initials - A sub-brand of GBD.
Marcee pipes were produced exclusively for the French market. The company was owned by Auguste Marechal and Ferdinand Ruchon ("& Cie" is the french equivalent of "& Co") who also owned the GBD brand from the end of the 19th century until 1902 when they sold Marechal, Ruchon & Cie. to Oppenheimer Pipe, which in turn changed the name of the company to Marechal, Ruchon & Co., Ltd.. Upon the creation of Cadogan, however, the brand was no more, remembered only in the name of the GBD Marcee pipes made until just after the Second World War.)

Back to back bowls of Rattray's Black Mallory in a new (to me) Stanwell Danish Star (which was somewhat of a rescue dog but smoked above expectations), and a Radice Sand Grain. I'm getting a little weary of the light English kick I've been on lately, I'm trying to be disciplined about finishing some tins before I open new ones, and it is paying off - this is tasty stuff.IMG_1527.jpgIMG_1528.jpg

First smoke in this birthday gift from my brother! Just got it in the mail today. It’s a Chris Morgan, Bones, Porch Sitter (brandy sitter) with a 1/4 bend vulcanite stem.
It’s loaded with some Boswell Northwoods English and a dram of 10 year Ardbeg Islay Scotch, a present from my Oldest Son ?
Happy Birthday and enjoy the Bones! Great pipes.
