Load it in the pipe and let it dry that way. Works for me.C&D Derringer bulk in an MM Legend. Later I'm going to experiment with drying St Bruno. Straight out of the pouch I love the sauce but wind up with unlightable damp dottle and wasted tobacco. The other night I dried a portion overnight but got very little sauce, but the base leaf was very good and smoked to the bottom. I must find a happy medium in this dry climate (Arizona)!
@edger I found St Bruno a bit damp straight from the pouch (in a clay of course); wasting soldier's rations is a definite no!!!C&D Derringer bulk in an MM Legend. It’s becoming one of my favorites@Laurent I'll have to get some Pirate Kake to smoke in my clay pipes when I go to Matlock Bath Pirate Mutiny this year...
Frasermac (and Ettrick puffer), there is a Scottish pub in Athens, not far from where I live. We have been there once, on a day like this and had the traditional menu with the "ritual" at the start...Probably my last Bothy morning this week so enjoying some Fraser’s Mixture (aka leftovers) in my basket briar.

It's great to have Poets days, and Robert Burns (1759 – 1796) belongs to the greatests.
