Haven't tried #20 yet but #25 and Balkan Mixture were great, imho, so I imagine #20 should be as well. Most G&H blends like a little drying time so I'd recommend letting it sit out a bit even if it seems good to go. If for some reason you don't love it at first puff, give it a week or so and try again. Welcome to the dark side!☻
Thanks for the heads up. It did seem rather moist, but I'm also use to the Virginia that I've had which is rather dry, and I was going to give it a shot, but I'll give it some air time now. Do you think a half hour would be acceptable?

Smoking some dark brown twist with a splash of Condor Plug in the meerschaum 'cutty' pipe that I am trying to get to color. Its an uphill battle but the shank is slowly turning a pleasant light brown color. Back in the 19th century they had professional meerschaum coloring blokes who sat around smoking meerschaums pipes all day and getting them to color up for wealthy patrons. I suppose they were the forerunner of our beloved Jim Inks but without the 'hint of grass' tobacco review! Well its my birthday so I am off down to the pub. See you all later!
Happy Birthday! You inspired me to try the Grasmere I'm currently smoking, so I'm raising this bowl to you!

If it seems moist, I'd give it a little longer. Maybe an hour? Half hour will probably be fine once the bag/jar has been opened and closed a few times. It doesn't have to be crispy but if you're used to drier VAs you'll want it dry enough so the ribbons don't stick together. Sometimes I leave it out for a few hours, especially if I know I want a full english smoke before bed. I'm in the "the drier, the better" camp.

Half way through this bowl of Ken Byron Ventures Artifact in a 1980 smooth medium brown full bend D’Argento calabash with a removable flared bowl inside a bowl with cork edges and a black and dark gold acrylic tapered stem. Haven't smoked this pipe in years.

Directors Cut in an early 90’s Comoy “Rover”. It was was my first (serious) pipe, a gift. It is a thick walled, kinda heavy beast, a pipe of Les Wood proportions - but with much less refinement. However, with 25 years experience I can say it is an amazing smoker, plus it has some interesting mixed grain. Anyway cheers!

One would think a “Les Wood” proportioned pipe would be kinda light, not kinda heavy.
