I'm out lunting about with a pretty girl and Falcon Extra full of Daughters & Ryan Ryback this afternoon. puffy

All jokes aside (though I'd still contest that she is a pretty girl, as far as dogs go) I've been really captivated by shag cut blends lately for how quick and easy they are to pack, light, and keep lit when you're out walking and I remembered that I had a big half gallon jar full of Ryback from somewhere around 2019 or 2020 when I was using it for RYO purposes.

I had never tried it in a pipe before so I decided to give it a smoke, and as far as dark fired blends go Ryback is a really spicy one! It's got a lot of punchy dark fired Kentucky flavor and a pretty substantial nicotine content, though oh boy was it ever kick-you-in-the-throat harsh! I'm not sure if that's how it always is or if it's just because my Ryback is a little drier than optimal (I stored it with a 58% humidity Boveda packet to keep it relatively dry for RYO use, though pipe tobacco generally smokes better at higher moisture content levels) but man did ever kill my throat.

I might try bringing the Ryback up to a higher moisture content then giving it another go, though even if it wasn't really harsh I still don't think I'd like it quite as much as my usual smooth and mellow shag cut dark fired blend of choice Gawith Hoggarth Kendal Dark. It was fun to try though!
Yup, a pretty lassie indeed. Nice pipe too . . . one of the beauties of a Falcon is the availability of custom bowls from different sources - I have a couple, and frankly they outperform a lot of the "house" bowls available when you buy the stem. That one you have on the pipe looks great. I especially like my Falcons for Navies, Englishes and codgers. Terrific for anything with lat in it especially, at least on my tastebuds. :)

Sunny afternoon home blend in a Radice while making phone calls from the front porch and waiting on a baccy order from the mail lady...
Mix is 50% Winchester, 30% Roll Cake and 20% Granulated Perique.

Beauty! Don't remember seeing that one before. The stem and it's fit into the shank looks easy to clean and remove/insert, but still fits aesthetically with the business end itself. 😍

Stunning pipe. Fantastic figure on the bowl. I love briar unadorned, but don't buy them because having only one full functioning eye (lost the other except for fuzz, in a series of strokes about 8 or 9 years ago) and with no depth perception, I scorch the crap out of the top of the bowl. But I can sure admire them in members' photos! Your Brigham is a peach! :)

Is that pipesdepot/meerschaum gallery? I’ve bought my two Tekins from his eBay shop if it is. When I buy another meer it’ll most likely be from him.

Ah! You were referring to the Celebi lattice reverse calabash earlier. Your post was right after my Santambrogio post, so in my haste, i thought you were referring to that one. The Celebi is not from pipesdepot, although i have bought several meers through them. That one is from CLBmeerschaum. You can find their store at the bay, too. I have had a couple of his as well. Also good smokers and the higher end ones are pretty nice looking, too. Another great value producer. Worth a look. :)

Did a set of walking reps, and smoked a bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in a slight bent black pattern etched 1977 Lorenzo Lorsan Sigma level top billiard with a gray swirl acrylic saddle stem. Abner the Eager came running to me when I started. I scooped him up, brought him inside to eat, and went walking.

After my last post, Tomato the Brave jumped on my chair, and snuggled for a while.

What a cute chin on that one. I love cats! My longhair tuxedo cat is doing the same right now! How many cats do you have? I've got 3: the longhair who loves me to pieces and insists on snuggles before I even eat dinner, one calico who is very sweet and plump but isn't always in the mood for snuggles, and one tabby who hates everyone except one person (who isn't me). Yes, me and my buddy Neo: we're just two skinny longhaired dudes taking on the world one ear scratch at a time.

Grazie! That particular Radice is a chunk. Quite a large, heavy bowl. If i stuff it with folded flakes it'll get me almost all the way to Seattle (a couple hours up the freeway). Not the best clencher, but a great smoker for kicking back in a comfortable chair. EZ pass for a cleaner, too, so the stem rarely gets removed.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm half way through this bowl of year 2019 HU Directors Cut in a smooth slight bend dark brown 1940s-1950s Comoy’s Blue Riband 228C prince with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.
