I was feeling very 1960s today. I recently found a box of old magazines in my dad’s house, this one from 1961. The beat up lighter (a 1962 Zippo slim) also was found in my dad’s house. I had to do a considerable bit of work getting its crushed body back in shape after Zippo deemed it unrepairable. The Kaywoodie pot (late '50s to mid '60s) was also found at my dad’s house, missing the stem. I found one on ebay and filed and sanded it a bit to get a perfect fit. The cork bit is just to keep the tobacco in while the pipe is in a pocket. I smoked my own blend of Two Friars with a Cherry On Top. After stoving and jarring a couple months, it’s a great smoke. Happy Superbowl Sunday to those who are watching.

It's interesting to imagine dad might have lit this pipe with that lighter while reading the magazine over 60 years ago. Cleaning out the old house is like a historical dig!

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm smoking year 2012 Rolando’s Own in a smooth straight early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

I asked @telescopes about a quintessential Gawith & Hoggarth blend to try, and he suggested Brown Flake Scented. Bought 4oz and just tried today. I had tried 1792 flake and Ennerdale previously, which while maybe acclimating my palatte to the Lakelands concept, were not blends that I ended up jibing with. Brown Flake Scented however I actually love. Smoked it in my Vauen Topas.
I am so happy to hear that it was good for you. I have a bit of a problem with the nic hit, especially 1792. But it is so flavorful.

A short one-pipe problem: waiting for the heat and Kroil to loosen some rusty bolts on a water pump that needs replacing, so 2021 Navigator Flake in the little clay (so tasty!) while hoping physics and chemistry do their magic.

@The Clay King the only clay i've put in service so far. i've dropped a briar a time or two and thankfully landed bowl down not stem down. If I only smoked a clay I'm sure I'd be a half-dozen in by now for sure! As a smoking tool, dollar per puff, totally under-rated! puffy
