I suppose it would be thematically appropriate to dedicate my most oriental pipe to Oriental blends,though apparently most of what they grow in Japan are Burley varieties. So maybe this object of art ought to be my Burley pipe.

Now smoking year 2012 Esoterica Dunbar in a smooth straight, dark brown early 1960s Lane era Charatan Selected 43 Dublin with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Tomato the Brave is snoozin' on m'lady's lap now that our friend Teresa has left. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Everybody else is outside except for Daisy the Feral Princess. Dunno where in the house she is.

An afternoon smoking pot! Well, really smoking IN not one but 2 pots. First up was the C&D Small Batch Eight State Burley (done first in 2021, sold out quickly, cellars beautifully, and now 2024 is totally gone, too; NOOOOOO!) in a Jobey Stromboli bent pot, a nostalgic hand-me-down from my deceased work partner. Up next was Borkum Riff Bourbon in a sandblasted black bent pot with saddle stem from BriarWorks. You'll notice from the pic no pipe tool is included. That's because the fine folks at BK included the enormous stem, obviously for use as a poker.

How are you liking the cob? They're extraordinarily nostalgic, but I don't often think of them as pretty. That is one nice looking cob!

Enjoyed a way too short snooze, and am almost a third of the way through this bowl of year 2016 Sutliff 507-C Slices in a sandblasted medium bend 1950s Reuben era Charatan Deluxe 11 billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Going to clean a few pipes soon.

Thanks! I love cobs. If that's all there was, I'd still be a happy pipe smoker, and you are right, the nostalgia is an added bonus!
