Dinner was a salad, haddock and sugar snap peas with strawberries for dessert. I'm off to work with a bowl of year 2020 D&R VIP in a 2004 smooth long shank Trever Talbot Ligne Bretagne Faite en Bretagne 4/3 lumberman with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.
Felt like smokin' like Mr. Thrifty today for some reason. The MM Country Gentleman blend in the MM Country Gentleman pipe. And then we had BR Bourbon Whiskey in the inexpensive Balandis large Devil Anse.
Just back from a pre Super Bowl party. Ate entirely too much!
Last flake in the tin of 2013 Dunhill Flake. Smoking in this Dunhill. I really need to get on top of my vulcanite stem maintenance.
Part way through this bowl of Wilke High Hat in an undated black sandblasted straight made in France Silvermatch Canadian with a tapered black vulcanite stem.
A lot of tobacco was smoked today in St Louis at the pipe show! I brought some 2005 1792 and we cracked it in the upstairs lounge. Most all of the tonka bean topping was gone but a fantastic smooth smoke it was.
Taking out a couple of horn-stemmed Bulldogs today
1st is this 1898 straight Bulldog with a tapered horn stem. Birmingham hallmarks but no stamps on the stummel or stem. I suspect it’s French-made.
And unsmoked when I got it a few years ago.
Now smoking Wilke No. 72 in a pre-1974 dark brown straight Larus & Brother Co. Signature billiard with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem with the initials LCR on the top of the stem. This blend was smoked by Walter Cronkite. No drama with ferals or our cats today.
