Enjoyed a very tasty cinnamon raisin French toast and sliced orange lunch, did a set of walking reps, and smoked a bowl of year 2016 D&R Three Sails in an undated straight brush etched black Molina apple with a nickel band and a black tapered vulcanite stem. Gold Star Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, neat, is my drink.

Getting near the half way mark faster than usual on this bowl of 2021 Watch City COE Beta Test Blend #1 in a 1978 BBB straight smooth brown Silver Mounted 522 pot with a silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Still catching my breath a bit after an extra strenuous set of walking reps on this warm, sunny day. It's good for the cardio!

Prepping some Heinrich’s Dark Strong Flake for later. There is no way in hell all of this dark tobacco is DFK, but I haven’t tasted it yet. Reminds me a lot of the dark bits of flake in HU Director’s Cut, and especially Motzek 16/5 Der Neue
There's some bright Virginia, black cavendish, and a just a little red Va. in it, too.

Wow, time just flew by without notice - nice! So . . . a few minutes ago I opened a somewhat rusty tin of well aged Grousemoor for the first time. It's not bright golden, lol, it is dark and rich looking. The big brother Peterson Sherlock original seemed appropriate and just barely into the bowl I can say the Grousemoor is really interesting and pairs nicely with plain old cranberry juice.

Now that my wife is feeling a little better. She gives me permission to smoke in my study, with the door closed. Let's go smoke some. SG: Kendal Cream flake, in a MM General, and a mug hot tea of red fruits. I wish you a happy weekend and a well-deserved rest. View attachment 127802
Yay! Glad your wife is feeling better and you can enjoy a smoke.

Thank you so much Jim, smoked these flakes and I am glad I hit 500g of it blind. Now if it had a bit more red it’d be near perfect (I recall your review of Orlik DSK saying that blend used to, can’t recall for the Heinrich’s offering but the Dutch blog claims it is the same thing, with different name - found all over Germany with various house names). Don’t know what they sauce it with, but it is very nice, sweet enough, decently strong, spicy. Think that liquorice actually makes DFK very sweet.

edit: smoking it made me think this DFK/Va/black Cavendish is 100% the same thing found in Motzek’s Der Neue.

Both the Orlik and PH version had a fair amount of red twenty years back. Then, the Orlik version went off the market as you know. Sometime during its absence, they decreased the amount of red in PH and upped the bright Va. content to save money. When the Orlik version came back, it followed the new change as both blends always had the same composition. The varience of use of molasses and licorice toppings was the only difference between the two. I've smoked at least three other blends that were actually PHDSK. Only the name was changed.

Cheers for confirming!

C&D Bayou Morning in a Stanwell Rondo straight billiard. This is my first smoke of this blend.

It’s a decent smoke. I just received it in bulk, so maybe it needs some jar time. I am having a hard time accepting that this is 25% perique. Mostly, it doesn’t smoke that way - about like GLP Fillmore in perique strength. Also, I don’t see that much dark specks in my baggie.
