Got a clay heading my way. Can’t wait to try some Virginia in it.
While somewhat impractical, especially for clenching, they require no break in and are fantastically neutral right out of the gate for trying new blends, which is primarily what i use them for. I will probably get one soon with a vulcanite stem. A little pricier and less classic looking, but much more comfy.

This is what I picked up...

I figured with the bit configuration I can put a bite bit on it for clenching. $17.95 on eBay plus free shipping.
I’ve heard about the neutral taste and that is why I am so excited to finally get one.

MB Dark Twist Roll Cake, in a virginia dedicated cob (partially rubbed out and packed last night), with coffee/ Italian sweet cream creamer (sugar free).

This tin was purchased and jarred in January of 2018. I tried it several times, as a newbie and fried myself. I couldn’t understand all the reviews about sweetness, depth, honey, etc... I tried it a few more times over the next two years, slightly better. I had better technique and understanding of tastes, but still not great for me. Back in the cellar to forget for a while.

This morning it’s 3 years and two months old, with at least 9 months to a year without being touched. Wow! What a difference. This is now a really nice smoke. Sweet, rich, easy light and burn. I can taste the Virginia characteristics. I’m considering buying a few tins or bulk and put notes on them do not open until 2024?

MacBaren Navy Flake in a Mauro Armellini bent billiard. I haven't smoked this in months, and I don't know why. This particular combination of pipe and tobacco make for the best smoking experience I've ever had on a regular basis. I've been stocking up on tins, and will continue to do so. This with some age on it is a thing of beauty. Paired with tea with a squeeze of honey in it.
