I recently received two tins of Robert McConnell tobacco: Original Scottish Blend and Latakia Flake. I have never had anything from this line and have been curious. I haven't smoked a Scottish blend in a while so, I decided to start with OSB, loaded up the Armellini rusticated Canadian and fired it up.
One word - Raisins
It was the predominate flavor from top to bottom of the bowl. At the beginning the Virginia vinegar tang is right alongside of it, so go easy setting the ember or it can bite a bit. However. this disappeared mid bowl and surprisingly didn't change to bread at all just rounded out the sweetness instead. There also appeared an undertone of cream which I attribute to the cavandish. The blend really comes together very nicely.
I will smoke this in a cob next to see if it opens up a bit more.
All in all, a very nice Scottish blend, I understand why it is admired by many here. I look forward to putting it through the paces.
