About to load up this pre 50s Orlik corona with some semois. It arrived this morning from Geoff at Cambridge Pipe Repairs. Always a nice surprise when an estate can go straight from the box into the rotation View attachment 114977
Geoff at Cambridge pipes is a great guy and can work his magic on any pipe, he was incredibly generous to me and actually gave me a Ornsby Pipe that he renovated especially for me just because he knew I was a fan of them. I can’t recommend him enough to anyone that’s looking to spruce up a pipe or give it a complete overhaul as he did with a Barling pick-axe I sent him. He’s a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

Because a couple of key sources they used are no longer accessible. The best anybody can make is inferior copies, and all that will happen then is a bunch of whiners complaining that they aren't as good as the originals. Not to mention the fear of the FDA rules, and the high cost of equivalency tests companies would have to pay to do it.
That makes total sense Jim, I guess it’d be like trying to turn your lawnmower into a Ferrari.

No access to the recipes or knowledge of the processes has been shared. The McNiel's didn't want the McClelland name or legacy bastardized by inferior materials or corner cutting.
I can understand that, terrible shame though. I just count myself lucky that I got to try some of their wares before it disappeared into the ether.

Watching NFL This Week and catching up on the action, Osi Umenyiora and Jason Bell crack me up with their brilliant rapport.

I’m having a big bowl of Druquer’s Levant Mixture which has been mellowing in the jar for a few months, this is a beautifully smokey, rich, almost chewy blend in a Blakemar Aristocrat. image.jpg
