I LOVED it back then.....and I really like it now.
Im pretty sure its different. I don't remember exactly what it tasted like but this RR pouch stuff does not taste like an "aromatic" really.
I taste Virginia.....and the Dark Fired......and its good.
This is a very divisive tobacco. Here in our country it is adored by many, some even consider it the best tobacco that can be purchased in Italy today.
But there is a part of the public that - like me - cannot tolerate the strong citrus note. Those who appreciate it, however, do not even notice this citrus note, and this is strange.

Years ago I had three bags brought from Spain when my daughter went there on a school trip (at the time it was not sold in Italy); there was a great outcry around this tobacco and I was curious to try it. I managed with great difficulty to finish one bag, I exchanged the other two with a friend who gave me an excellent Red Virginia McConnell in exchange.
The Saint Bruno left a strong lemon flavor in my mouth at the end of the smoke, or rather, to be precise, it reminded me of "Limonina", those bottles of lemon juice that my mother bought at the supermarket when I was little. When it was almost finished, she gave it to me and I enjoyed finishing it by sucking the bottle that was made of soft plastic.
Human memory is strange, sometimes a smell, a taste, opens up a distant memory.
Here, at the end of the smoke, that taste from so many years before returned to my mouth. Of tobacco, however, not even a shadow.

Sun Bear Tupelo in an unknown 9mm meerschaum. Earlier today I had some Haunted Bookshop in the same pipe.

For some reason I smoked an awful aromatic called Golden Blend Black Cherry in this pipe last year and haven’t smoked it much because of the ghost it left. So the past couple days I decided to smoke anything out of this pipe and it has been great.

It’s a great pipe. Lightweight and the mouthpiece and button are perfect. The fishtail opening is even flared out nicely into the drill hole. Whoever made this meerschaum sure engineered it to be an excellent smoker.

Good Morning to everyone who is here at this early hour. I am sitting at my desk smoking a bowl of 2014 Black Irish XX twist in a 1902 silver banded BBB meerschaum 'Cutty' pipe. This particular batch of Black Irish XX was gifted to me towards the end of 2014 as a whole 1 Lb bee hive of Gawith & Hogwarts twist from a wonderful forum member called Sheldon who I have not seen post on here in many a year. Black Irish XX can be something of a challenging smoke that falls into the either the 'you love it' or 'hate it' category of pipe tobacco. Unlike Brown Twist which is simply a piece of detonator cord soaked in nicotine that will mess you up in a delightful way, especially if smoked or chewed on an empty stomach, Black Irish XX has been coated in olive oil, wrapped in brown paper and then heat pressed to achieve that shiny black outer wrapper color and deep black core with a corresponding pungent taste. The older it becomes the more mellow the smoke, the room note on the other hand never seems to change. To me it has a roast beef type of quality but then everything is purely a matter of personal opinion and is probably the basis of the theory that one's own sh*t doesn't stink! Enjoy your day chaps or if you are working try and look like you are enjoying your day. I will swing by later and see how everyone is doing. In the mean time I leave you this piece of tobacco porn to amuse or motivate you!
