Thanks mate I’ll check them out. Unfortunately Smoking Pipes started listing the tins on the packaging and Customs is snapping them up, it’s like shooting fish in a barrel for them now.Firestorm? For Russ Ouellette blends your best bet is Pipes & Cigars.

Having another bowl in the same pipe. I’m finding this 2015 tin very sweet in a good way. I’ll be interested to see if a fresh tin is as sweet.I think the name kept me from trying it for a long time. Likely my subconscious linked it to Gawith Firedance, which is a blackberry aromatic travesty. Also may have assumed it had something to do with "Fireball" or a cinnamon candy.
Maybe Russ had a reason for naming this blend "Firestorm", or maybe he had just been listening to Earth Crisis. (LoL).
Nice looker, but that's what I'd call a "Recliner Pipe".Haven’t even had first breakfast yet! Garden tasks and now holding out for elevensies, lol. Vauen came up with a new style (Berwin) that suckered me so trying it with a little Grousemoor. I’m about 1/2 through and about ready to abandon for another pipe. Smokes fine, but unwieldy for typing and surfing on the phone. Don’t think this will be a regular, haha, but like the look. View attachment 242893View attachment 242894
@bluegrassbrian I got my first clay pipe in 2018, the year they closed down. You've only ever smoked 1 bowl of a Mcclelland product?
When did you start smoking a pipe?
Were you just not interested in them or was it the availability issue?
@VA_Red I enjoyed the Full Virginia Flake in my clays; I think Gawith flakes are very well suited to clay pipes.SG FVF in Castello.View attachment 242896
Just want to add that choice of pipe is key to getting the most out of this blend. I like a small to medium bowl with a bit of length to stem/shank. The pipe has to be dedicated to Virginias of course, and carefully broken in. You are slowly over time curing the briar.Fresh Peterson Flake from a tin I just ordered last week. I wanted to compare it to the 2011 tins (Dunhill square tins) I have been through recently. I like whatever subtle flavoring agent they use on this and so fresh has its advantages over aged. Although the 2011 tins are smooth they were also a tad dry. Smokeable but some air had escaped those square tins over the years. Still, it's nice to know STG has kept this one consistent over the years. A constant in a sea of change all around us.
Pipe: a Stanwell made in Denmark sandblasted Canadian from the Danish Slow Smoking Championship. I would tell you what year it is but then I'd have to tip my ashes over onto my lap! (I think 1994?)
