Hmmm, some may or may NOT do it for aesthetic reasons, but I really hadn't noticed that I had smoked it like that until this morning when I saw your question and looked at the pic I posted. I think I maybe I have gotten to the place where I have learned (imagine that) what allows each pipe to be smoked at its best. I am not one of those who hate the way the Peterson wear gap looks. I have seen numerous posts about how some absolutely despise it. I don't & now only smoke Petersons, so perhaps I 'subconsciously' fine tune each of my pipes as it is smoked. Hmmm, maybe ... or maybe not. be well...Ah that makes sense. I’ve seen a number of guys smoke with a gap. Is there a reason for doing that?
