Smoking C&D XX Flake in a Bones

90AC1414-BF6C-41FF-BCB0-9B38031D8AB7.jpeg

Has anyone else noticed that these are excellent, fully formed flakes? Like nothing I’ve ever seen from C&D before... they actually keep as full flakes, they don’t fall apart the second you touch them, totally different than the sister XX Dark Flake (at least my tin). It makes me wonder if this was actually manufactured outside of their factory... maybe I just got a good tin, I guess I’ll see when I open another one. Could this be like Stonehenge Flake? That one was actually made at the Gawith plant. This is all speculation of course... (obviously)

Regardless, I find this an absolutely wonderful blend!

About a quarter of a bowl left of Watch City Deluxe Crumb Cut in a 2016 Peretti's M.T. Natural made in Holland straight smooth brown Algerian briar billiard with a black acrylic tapered stem. This will finish my smoking day.

2017 Esoterica Margate in a 1970s Sven Knudsen sandblasted billiard with a sterling silver army mount—specifically, a Model 14, described as a “LEIGHT WEIGHT CLASSIC” in the Dantonian Pipe Works catalogue (although mine has a slightly different, albeit equally fanciful, handout vulcanite stem from the two examples illustrated).

After several bowls of Haddo’s it was time to change it up. Enjoying the beautiful weather and a 2013 Montechristo #2...

Nice ash. Nº2s are my absolute lifelong favorite, smuggled brought home, one box at a time every time (usually from Duty Free) I went anywhere in Europe–beginning in the mid-1980s. Excellent choice!
