Gawith Hoggarth Dark Flake Aromatic in a Falcon Extra with a Bantam Dublin bowl tonight.

I'm starting to wonder if the added toppings in Dark Flake Aromatic exist in some sort of quantum flux that causes no two people to taste them the same. To me they taste like lemongrass coupled with the aromas of pine needles and cedar chips, but I've never heard anyone else describe the flavor even remotely similar to that. I've heard it described as camphor, licorice, #2 pencil, maple sugar, beefy, vanilla, fruity, herbal, sweet, bitter, and at least a dozen other disparate adjectives.

In fact, if you look on TobaccoReviews.com you'll find no two people describe the flavor of Dark Flake Aromatic the same way. It's a complete mystery. A tasty mystery, though. puffy
Just had my first experience with DFA last week. I love it, I have some more drying and I'll be intentional in picking out flavors to compare with your take.

Had Dark Sails and then PS LNF 400 in a Ropp Etudiant J07.
Mama and I are putting 160ft of chicken wire around our little paddock-the grass has sprouted well, but isn’t growing because the dammed bunnies keep it clipped to the ground…
Are these pet bunnies or wild bunnies? If the latter, I have a suggestion 😈🏹 Gotta keep in practice for that draw!

A
C&D Yorktown in my Rad Davis "Smokers Forums" POY 2008.
Yorktown is the Pegusus of Virginias......change my mind. :)
Yorktown....just plain, uncased Virginias.
Pegusus....just plain uncased Burley.
Neither get their proper attention in my opinion. That's a damn shame.

Agreed, and I'd throw Winchester in there as well!

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, haddock and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries. I'm near the half way mark of this bowl of year 2010 Penzance in a 1990s smooth dark brown medium bend Peterson Captain Pete XL80 bulldog with a metal accent and a black vulcanite p-lip stem. I dedicated this pipe to Penzance many years ago. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Watching the Cubs-Phillies game. Abner the Eager was in all day until a few minutes ago. Haven't seen the others since I fed them this afternoon. That's very unusual. I'll check on them after this post.

I've perhaps tracked down the source of my woes of late . . . . had two pipes today, a repeat of Mad Fiddler in the McQueen Miniature, and a bowl of Nightcap in my Bent Falcon.

Fiddler was off (tasted charcoally), and ditto for the Nightcap. Sought solace with an early dinner, and couldn't taste a thing. And my nose has been a basketball - dribbling all over the place. Looks like I've got allergies. Explains a few things . . . I've had them before, but always in the fall, not in the spring. Tried an after dinner cigar, and it, too, was off. Tasted like charcoal. And the coffee had almost no taste at all, like the food.

Pollen is out full blast now. Guess my immune system isn't geared for pollen yet. So I'll lay off for a day or two, and like in the fall, it'll pass. Weird, but I'm quite happy to know. Sorry to complain again, but at least I now have a good idea of the problem. Hope I don't have to put up with this twice a year, eh? But as my Uncle Ed would say, "Stop your whining. You'll find sympathy in the dictionary between s**t and syphilis."

In the mean time, here are a couple of snaps of my Oriental Tobacco plants. They're blooming like crazy, and are responding very quickly to the window light and sun. Will be ordering more seeds tomorrow or Tuesday - planning 2 types of Virginias, a hybrid burly, another pack of the same Oriental as pictured, and a Balkan, as mentioned earlier.

Had a quick bowl of H&H Black House in a Savinelli Bacco 321 rusticated author after the rain cleared up. The excess eggplant slices from my b-day dinner will be chopped up and used on a pizza tonight. The Italian pipe Italian food matchup is purely coincidence. 9/10

Bird report: House finch, Steller's jay, California towhee, White-crowned sparrow, California scrub-jay, Mountain chickadee, California quail, American crow, and Western bluebird.

Let's hope my Kings actually show up tonight... 🏒 🤞
